This is chanceme but without the toxicity! It’s a place where average students can get help and advice for college admissions without constantly being bombarded with humblebraggers who have a 4.0 gpa and 1600 SAT and started 15 nonprofits freaking out about how they won’t get into their 80% acceptance rate state school.

2023.06.10 20:24 vapeboy1996 What trades/jobs pay similar to what I’m making now?
I’m 26 years old, worked as a rigger for a non union shop for 2 years, and now working as a riggesignalman out of Boston at a union crane company. I’m not in the union yet (local 4 operating engineers - hard as fuck to get into) but my boss said he would get me in soon, took 2 years to get 2 other guys in and I’ve been there almost a year. I’m making $35/ hr and then time and a half for overtime after 8. I clear $1300-1500 a week after tax on average.
I love crane work, but the stress is taking a massive toll on me. Between the crane business being extremely demanding at the hands of the trades we are working for (barely get a lunch most days), the crazy hours 5am to 6pm most days, Saturdays and Sundays almost ever week, the amount of licenses I have to get and maintain at my own expense, and the heights and constant fear of dying. It’s a lot and I’m having a baby in September and it’s got me thinking even more about things. My boss said he’d pay for my CDL school, and then eventually I can be trained to run cranes, but all that means is even more hours and stress. Crane guys clear 70 hours almost every week.
The money is good and I honestly still need more money to live around here, so that’s all that’s really kept me there so far. Even if I get into the union I can’t really move around to another company at least not easily. I would LOVE to run dirt equipment but I either can’t take a pay cut to labor or don’t have experience to join as an operator. The apprentice program accepts maybe 1 dirt apprentice per year, the other 20 something go to crane companies, so the union isn’t the answer either.
Should I broaden my search? What other trades or routes that I might qualify for pay around what I make? Or am I just stuck?

2023.06.10 20:24 battyeyed It is incredibly difficult to become a counselor
It seems like every day I hear about a large crisis within society. How many people could really benefit from therapy. How many children could benefit from having someone to talk to—especially kids with adhd and/or autism. How many people experiencing addiction or homelessness could use support. The bar is ridiculously high. I understand why. We need professionals. But the amount of money involved and the education system itself is out of control.
Of people 25+ in America, 35% have a bachelor’s and 13% have a master’s.
Average tuition for a master’s is between $18,000-$65,000. And financial aid isn’t given in the same way as it is during undergrad.
Acceptance rates of many grad schools is very low. I applied for one with a 4% acceptance rate in a city that desperately needs more social workers and counselors. I am so incredibly burnt out on school and being in poverty. It could take me years before being accepted into a grad program & bachelor’s level jobs pay poverty wages. The idea of remaining in poverty until I get my unforeseen degree makes me want to give up on it lol. But I can’t.
If you were in poverty before grad school, how did you survive then—and while in grad school?
Do you think there should be less financial barriers? Or is it a good thing grad school is so exclusive?

2023.06.10 20:22 justanegirl Need help coming up with a fair rate to submit to a potential NM
Hey there! I (24F) just joined today, so very awesome to talk to you all! I need help coming up with a good rate per hour to send to NM. I am moving from MS to Georgia in the next month, and I am potentially starting this position at the end of July and staying until Oct when their au pair arrives. I have a lot of experience: I was a camp counselor, substitute teacher, baby sitting for all my teen years into college, and a full time nanny in Atlanta for 7 months before I moved to MS for a different job.
Sorry--I tend to ramble: she has 4 kids, ages 8, 6, 4, and 2. There would be a lot of driving because it's metro atlanta (iykyk). I would be using their minivan most of the time to drive. The older kids are in 3 activities. The youngest and I would be spending a lot of time at home while the kids are at school, and when they get out its shuttling to activities & going to parks, the zoo, etc. Before their activities start toward the middle of August. Some weekends are required when they need help, but it won't be very consistent that they need me on weekends. The kids are not allowed much screentime at all, which I respect, so it'll be a lot of entertaining kids, and I am up for it.
I am thinking at least 20 dollars + overtime at least, but I don't know if that is unfair. Hours would be 8-7 M-F until school starts then 11-7 ish during the school year. If you think my rate is fair or too little or too much, let me know!! Welcoming all opinions.

2023.06.10 20:17 jimbobbypaul Ranking the Top 131 FBS Programs of the Last 40 Years: 76. Hawaii
Main hub thread with the full 131 rankings Hawai’i nei. When I think of Hawaii football, I think of a rich state-wide sporting culture that manifests as 11 warriors flying around the football field. Hawaii’s had an up and down, but very proud, football history. Going 0-12 in 1998 to subsequent 9-4 and 3-9 records the following years might be a perfect microcosm of Rainbow Warrior football. For me, and I’m sure for a lot of other fans, the Colt Brennan Hawaii teams in ‘06 and ‘07 were some of the funnest teams to ever watch, and I look forward to watching games in the new Aloha Stadium once complete.

Hawaii: 0-12 (-76.256) Overall Score: 12366 (76th)
- 244-253-6 record
- 4 conference titles
- 8-6 bowl record
- 0 consensus All-Americans
- 48 NFL players drafted
Hawaii’s 0 consensus All-Americans is surprising given the talent of some players that’ve come through the Aloha state. WR Greg Salas led the nation in receiving yards in 2010, catching 119 passes for 1889 yards and 14 TD, but still couldn’t get everyone to say “this guy’s an All-American.” Neither could WR Ashley Lelie, who was 2nd in 2001 with 1713 yards, and led the nation with 19 TD. Not to mention Colt Brennan and some of the other skill position players from those 2006/07 teams. Players aside, Hawaii’s had a healthy rate of winning seasons (20 seasons of .500 win % or better), conference titles (1 every 10 years), players drafted (over 1 a year), and has a winning bowl record, including a 6-4 record in Hawaii Bowls.
Top 5 Seasons
Worst Season: 1998 (0-12 overall, 0-8 WAC) Hawaii STUNK. Coach Fred von Appen finished his 3 year tenure as head coach with a 5-31 record, with 1998 being Hawaii’s only ever winless season. #24 Arizona, whose coaching staff featured Hawaii coaching expats Dick Tomey, Rich Ellerson, and Bob Wagner, beat the Warriors 27-6 in the opener. It set the tone for the season, as Hawaii went winless while Arizona finished 12-1. After a loss to Utah, 0-20 and 0-28 losses to Arkansas State and SMU put them at 0-4. The closest score the rest of the season season was just 10 points in a 20-30 loss to New Mexico. Worst losses included 13-30 to 3-8 UTEP, 17-45 to 4-8 San Jose State, 12-51 to 5-6 Fresno State, and 21-47 to 3-9 Northwestern. Overall, Hawaii ranked dead last in offense with 12.4 PPG while giving up 35.2 PPG against the 79th ranked Strength of Schedule. In 1999 new head coach June Jones would complete the biggest turnaround in NCAA history, winning 9 games.
This ranks as the 5th worst season ever, by any team, since 1983.
5. 1988 (9-3 overall, 5-3 WAC) Now let’s take it back 10 years in the past, from 1998 → 1988. Hawaii was a better football team back then. 2x Super Bowl champion kicker Jason Elam, just a freshman at the time, nailed 47 and 23 yard FGs in the 4th quarter in a 27-24 upset of #9 Iowa. A week 6 matchup between 4-0 Hawaii and 4-1 UTEP would determine who’d be Wyoming’s biggest challenger for the WAC title, but UTEP won 42-25. Andy Reid was an OL coach for the Miners at the time. Hawaii did their best to keep pace in the conference, going 7-2 with close wins over San Diego State and the now defunct Long Beach State 49ers. A loss to #16 Wyoming ended any shot at a WAC title, but wins over Air Force and Oregon to end the year were sweet, with Hawaii finishing the year 2-0 against Power 5/6 teams (Iowa and Oregon). QB Warren Jones was one of the best players in the WAC, leading the conference in passer efficiency, throwing 2000+ yards with 19 TD 11 INT, and adding another 669 and 8 TD on the ground.
4. 2001 (9-3 overall, 5-3 WAC) The 2001 senior class had had enough. From 0-12 in 1998 to 9-4 then 3-9, what the heck did 2001 have in store? Nobody knew. The season opener against FCS team Montana was anyone’s bet, as the Grizzlies were #2 in the FCS rankings. Hawaii won 30-12, but 2 straight one-possession losses had them fall to 1-2. That’s when QB Nick Rolovich and the offense took flight. 3 straight wins including a 66-7 pummeling of UTEP improved Hawaii to 4-2. Hosting David Carr and #18 Fresno State in a packed Aloha Stadium of 38,000, Rolovich threw a 20 yard TD pass with 13 seconds left to win the Golden Screwdriver 38-34. Splitting their next 2 games, Hawaii was 6-3 with 3 of their toughest games left, and Rolovich WENT NUCLEAR. He outdueled Ben Roethlisberger and 7-3 Miami (OH), throwing 7 TD passes in a 52-51 win. That was followed up by a 5 TD performance against Air Force, winning 52-30. And the best was saved for last. Hosting 12-0, #9 BYU, Rolovich had the performance of a lifetime, throwing 8(!!!) TD passes in a 72-45 shocker, blowing the doors off the Cougars in a sold out 50,000 seat Aloha Stadium. Chad Owens had a kick return TD and punt return TD, and set an NCAA record for return yards in a single game with 342. WR Ashley Lelie had a monstrous 8 catches for 262 yards and 2 TD.
But despite the 9-3 record, Hawaii wasn’t invited to a bowl game, which spawned the creation of the Hawaii Bowl in 2002. Rolovich ended the year with 3361 passing yards 34 TD 9 INT, 3rd in the nation in passing TDs.In his last 3 games, Rolovich had 20 passing TD with just 1 INT, arguably the best 3 game stretch by a player in Hawaii history. Ashley Lelie had 84 catches for 1713 yards and 19 TD, and was the 19th overall pick by the Denver Broncos in the 2002 NFL Draft. Backup QB Timmy Chang would go on to become the NCAA’s all time leading passer with 17,072 yards by 2004.
3. 1992 (11-2 overall, 6-2 WAC) This isn’t the usual Hawaii team you’re used to. They ran the option. They were 2nd in the nation in rushing. The starting RB ran for more yards than the entire team passed for combined. It makes sense when you notice their 6th year offensive coordinator was Paul Johnson, future Navy and Georgia Tech head coach. The season opener featured a 24-21 win against Oregon in Autzen Stadium, following up with a 6-3 win over an Air Force team that finished 1991 in the top 25, and finishing the opening 3-week stretch with a 36-32 win over BYU, who was coming off 3 straight years of top 25 finishes. After a minor setback against Utah, Hawaii reeled off 4 straight wins to improve to 7-1 and be ranked #24, before losing to San Diego State and Marshall Faulk. Thanks to a 42-18 win over Wyoming, Hawaii clinched a share of the WAC title, sharing it with Fresno State and BYU, both of whom Hawaii beat. The regular season finished with a nice 36-23 win over Pitt, and then 27-17 over Illinois in the bowl. Hawaii finished with an 11-2 record, #20 ranking, and 3-0 record against Power 6 (7?) teams. RB Travis Sims set a Hawaii single season record with 1498 rushing yards, on a WAC-best 6.8 YPC.
2. 2006 (11-3 overall, 7-1 WAC) And here we have the teams everyone knows about. The June Jones/Colt Brennan “throw it every down because you can’t stop us” offenses that turned kids like me into college football fans. A 1-2 start featured understandable losses at Alabama and at Boise State, who finished 13-0. Hawaii won 10 of their last 11, including a win over 8-5 Nevada, a 54-17 win over 9-4 San Jose State, three 50+ point wins over Idaho, Utah State, and Louisiana Tech, a 42-35 win over Purdue, and finally a 41-24 win over Arizona State in the Hawaii Bowl. Those wins, along with losses to Alabama away, a 10 win Oregon State, and an unbeaten Boise State, earned a #22 final ranking in my algorithm. In some ways, this team was better than their 2007 version that went 12-0.
Hawaii led the nation in scoring with 46.9 PPG, with the next closest team averaging just 39.7 (Boise State). There was a bigger difference between Hawaii and 2nd place than 2nd place and 12th place! QB Colt Brennan set an NCAA record for passing efficiency in a season and passing TDs in a season, completing 72.6% of passes for 5549 yards 58 TD and just 12 INT. Brennan finished 6th in Heisman voting and won the Sammy Baugh Trophy and WAC Offensive POTY. RB Nate Ilaoa was a 5’9 245 lb do-it-all freak of nature, rushing for 990 yards and 13 TD on 7.6(!) YPC, and caught 67 passes for 837 yards and 5 TD. For a 245 lb RB, he accumulated 1827 yards and 18 TD on 9.2 yards per touch! WR Davone Bess led with 1220 receiving yards, Jason Rivers was second with 1178, and Ryan-Grice Mullen (2nd in Hawaii career receiving TDs) added 770. All three had 10+ receiving TDs.
Hawaii had 17 punts all season, setting an FBS record for the least amount of punts per game with just 1.2. There were 5 games in which they didn’t punt a single time!
1. 2007 (12-1 overall, 8-0 WAC) In 2007, a perfect storm of returning talent + easy schedule combined to help Hawaii complete one of the most magical regular seasons we’ve seen from a team. Hawaii went 12-0, with some games being too close for comfort (45-44 OT win over Louisiana Tech, 42-35 OT over San Jose State, 28-26 over Nevada), but ultimately ending with big wins over #17 Boise State and Washington. #14 Hawaii and #17 Boise State played late in the year for the outright WAC title, with Hawaii coming out on top 39-27, outgaining Boise by 200+ yards with 5 passing TD from Brennan. #10 Hawaii played #4 Georgia in the Sugar Bowl, but the Bulldogs played like the best team in the nation that night, winning 41-10.
Brennan was invited to New York as a Heisman finalist, finishing 3rd. He completed 70.4% of passes for 4343 yards 38 TD 17 INT, and ran for 8 TD. Brennan finished his career as the NCAA’s all time leader in passing TDs with 131, doing so in just 3 years. Hawaii’s esteemed WR trio went off, with Ryan Grice-Mullen snagging 106 balls for 1372 yards and 13 TD, Davone Bess getting 108 catches for 1266 yards and 12 TD, and Jason Rivers catching 92 passes for 1174 yards and 13 TD. All 3 finished as Hawaii’s top 3 all-time leading receivers: Rivers with 3919 yards, Bess with 3610, and Grice-Mullen with 3370. June Jones was named WAC Coach of the Year and was a finalist for the Eddie Robinson Coach of the Year award.
2007 Hawaii nearly missed out on finishing as a top 50 Group of 5 team since 1983 according to my algorithm, but is an honorable mention.
5th Quarter
Will we see the Braddahood return to 06/07 levels any time soon? What do you remember about Colt Brennan and those Hawaii teams? Where do you rank that 2007 Hawaii squad against all-time Group of 5 teams? They were dominant, but against the 11th weakest schedule in football that year. Do you think the ‘06 or ‘92 team was better than the ‘07 team? Who was the best Hawaii player outside of Brennan in the last 20-30 years? And finally, do you think Hawaii’s rank on this list is fair?

2023.06.10 20:13 Key-Collection-2129 I was deactivated! What can do I do for the appeal? No one is responded.
Hey guys. I was deactivated on shipt. Do you guys have any successful tips on how to get my account back? This was my only income I did an appeal and repeatedly emailed no response. I have a 4.92 rating on my last 50%. 4.83 overall. 100% on time. Last Saturday I had to drop an order in the middle of doing an order Because a family member of mine was found unconscious and I had to drop it and go! I only picked up one item But I called them before had so they can drop it for me. And she said it wouldn’t affect me but now in the email it says from dropping while doing an order. Please if anyone can help. Or lmk how long does it take for them to make a decision on the appeal. I really like doing shipt because I am a college student and mom and it’s hard to work a full time job with an actual schedule. I will email the CEO if I have to!

2023.06.10 20:12 sowhatwhynot LECOM-SH vs. KansasCOM
KansasCOM
- New DO school (one class before me) & there are inherit risks with a pre-accredited school
- Administration looks supportive and wanting to help students. Students for the most part also confirm this.
- So far they seem to have a decent list of rotation sites through KS, but not sure in practice what it'll look like. University of Kansas-Wichita gets priority for local sites.
- No existing board match rates or residency matches
- Traditional lecture format but not mandatory. Sounds like majority of the students watch them on their own time.
- Basically everything is brand new when I went for Accepted Students Day
LECOM - SH
- They've been around longer and have an established relationship for rotations. 100% board pass rates and decent match sites.
- Clinical rotations seem to be a hit or miss - some people seem to be fine and some people seem to be royally screwed over by the admin
- Also heard that the rotation sites in PA are getting more competive with UPitt Med and now Dusquene opening up a new DO school
- I'm not sure about the PBL pathway. Sounds basically like a self-study program for the first two years. I know a lot of med students will say that they used third party resources. Can't argue with their board pass rates but unsure if this is the right format fo me.
I honestly don't care about rules like the dress code + no water. As a non-trad, those can be annoying but not a deal breaker. However, every student I've talked to for the most part has told me to go somewhere else if there's a better option. The question is a new DO school a better option.
Specialities I'm considering (but obviously could change): IM, FM, EM, Anesthesiology. Ideally I'd like to do my residency in a decently sized city (as opposed to rural).

2023.06.10 20:07 DragonflyFormer8490 I am always feeling drained and all the time which I have is getting sucked away and I can't do anything
Well, I am 17 and my dad gives me work 24/7 and this work by the way isn't something like child labour more like normal tasks like search this thing in internet and say the answer.
Thing is he gives me so much work it takes away 5-6 hrs of my time and my studies are getting affected after the 5-6 hrs of work I feel drained and irritated at everything so I try to cool off and when I relax my mom comes in and says to me that I am lazy and not studying and just using my dad as an excuse.
Now I feel guilty I am not studying and also irritated and tired to the point I feel like quitting studies, I am from India and JEE is a big deal of an exam here like the SAT you guys have except much more harder and competitive (12 million students and 10000 seats, acceptance rate is extremely low)
I've said to my dad that stop giving me work and he sure isn't stopping and my mom will obviously blame me well I am not giving the results so just blame me, just dump everything on me.
I can't even say no, the word no has like no use here, i have an elder sister and she doesn't get anywork, she got below average marks and she did get scoldings for that but even when she is lazing around with no work because her studies are over as of now she still doesn't get any work and I have to help her too.
No one understands my situation, i feel too tired my eyes are heavy and the guilt of not studying doesn't let me sleep and when I say this to my mom she is like well your dad giving you work will teach you lots of things, yes i did learn some share market basics due to me helping him and i did learn something about economy and finance but it's no use I need that jee rank to get a damn college in this country.
Well I am looking for advice on how to study when you are drained and don't feel like it?
I am sure most of you might not read this long rant by a teenager, ik i am complaining and its disgusting to complain and some of you might get annoyed by that but it is what it is, I need to rant because If i didn't i might just hurt someone with razor sharp words that would pierce me as well as them.

2023.06.10 19:58 metal555 Georgetown College Government or SFS International Politics
Hey guys, I was accepted this year to Georgetown College for linguistics, but I am planning on maybe a double major with government. Lately, though, I thought that if I were to do government, I would maybe more be interested in the programs that SFS might offer, and push linguistics as one of my minors with SFS's International Politics as my major. So I might transfer within Georgetown from the college to SFS.
My question though is is there any big differences between Georgetown College's government/poli sci program and what the SFS program has? Hearing some pros/cons and some personal experiences might be helpful. My interests lies more in learning more about international affairs rather than internal affairs.

2023.06.10 19:57 Polite_Deer Idk if I should go back to college to study pharmacy or something in the science field.
I got out of the military when I was 23 and spent 4 years in college right after for 3 different things with the help of the GI bill ("free" money for four years.) I received a diploma for HVAC, spent one year in forensic science (dropped out), and then depleted my GI bill with my associates in avionics. I've been working as an avionics tech for a company since then. The job isn't too bad. It pays decent but it could be quite mundane sometimes and I feel like I could do better in when it comes to pay.
I have some financial goals that I hope to reach within the next 3 years that are possible if I stay committed. Returning to college has crossed my mind, but it would set be back and impede other goals that I have in mind. My goals include starting a business and a few other sources of income that could make me at least $3000-$4000 of passive income a month while I work my regular day job.
However, if I do commit to that plan, I feel like going back to college will be futile. I do not plan to commit to working 5 days out of the week for the rest of my life. I just want to make enough passive income so I have the option to work part time for the rest of life and maybe return to full time for a year or so if I ever feel like doing so.
There are many opportunities for me to make 70k+ in my field by accepting contracts and relocating within the US and even overseas. There are even some contracts that offer 100k+ a year. Most companies are looking for 3+ years of experience and some licenses that I have no interest in pursuing especially when I do not plan to do this in the long term. Some companies really aren't as picky but they are a little harder to find.
There is a new major aviation manufacturer being constructed in my area but that place won't start operating for around a year. Idk if I should wait and get experience while it is up and running or relocate to another place and risk them running out of positions by the time I return. I've been vacillating on this for a while. If I were to relocate, I would have to be making at least $32 an hour (if the cost of living is equal or less of where I'm currently located) for it to be worth it for me to relocate.
Maybe I'm just tired of my job or maybe I'm regretting how I spent my GI bill. Maybe I'm just getting impatient about my goals and I'm unhappy about my current position. Maybe all of the above?
Tl;Dr idk if I should seek another job or remain at my job while this new job opens up. I also don't know if I should go to college in the next few years especially when I don't intend on working the traditional 40 hours a week in the future.

2023.06.10 19:54 Fast_Peanut4541 Just looking for some good advice seriously I'm open minded

Now I go to work every day every week for up to a min of 16 hours to a max of 30 usually a week now I've been working in this same company for 10 years and some with only 4 max employees he has me a a jack of all trades basically one day I'm cutting grass the next I'm sealcoating his drive or working on his truck mind you all for 20 a hour Then he tells us almost every year we did bad but in the past 4 year we help this man build his new house get his 2022 brand new trucks tagged till 2029 he got a 50ft boat with a 3000 dollar fishing radar on the boat he just went last week and got a brand new 2023 Harley limited edition but when I mention any of my problems it I ain't losing any sleep I got in too accident none of my fault and I get I don't give a fuck and heres a claim number good luck Now I depend on this job for my family survival I use to love to do it but now I hate it and I wanna be where he is I understand it's his business but dang so what should I do in this situation I wanna get this place I'm living in but I don't know if I can afford it do I ask for a raise or say my hourly rate need to go up I don't have to pay for any transportation for work brother in law live close by to pick me up every morning he makes 24 an hour and self employed to in damn near the same boat as me what should I do

2023.06.10 19:53 guy153840 I hope I never get my memory wiped of this game
A common sentiment on this subreddit is how we all wish we could get our memory wiped and live through this game again, but playing this game has so drastically changed my life and helped me make friends in real life I never would have otherwise if it wasn't for basically my entire outlook on life being changed by playing this game. I've been homeschooled for 8 years and I'm heading to college in 3 months and being inside for so long gives you a ton of time to think, and over think, and eventually freak out about dying and lose all hope in finding meaning in my life. And then I played outer wilds, seeing my first super nova I felt a strange sense of fear but also calm that I can only hope I experience when I inevitably die. The base game helped me accept the fact that I will one day die but how death is as natural as life itself. But I was still afraid, I accepted that I would die but still was freaked out by the idea of everything fading away, and then I played the DLC and at first the owls story only cemented my views of a species so determined to live they secluded themselves at the cost of the universe. But then when meeting the stranger and seeing the painting in its house it made sense that living a life in fear isn't living at all and it's all about living in the present and appreciating all of what life has to give you, or in other terms "the universe is and we are". This game helps me in having the confidence to just go out and talk to people and make new friends. To do the things I want to do not cause someone told me but because I value my time here and want to spend it as best as I can. So to sum it up, my life would still be a wreck without this game and forgetting it would be the worst thing to ever happen to me.

2023.06.10 19:53 pizza_queen9292 One year in our home!
My husband and I closed on our first house one year ago today! We paid $385k ($50k over asking). House is a 3bed/1 bath with a fully fenced in backyard, and new roof, new condenser for the central aihvac, and new water heater installed within the year prior to us purchasing. We also have a finished basement! We are in a shoreline town in southwestern CT. House is on city water and uses natural gas We were not married at the time of purchasing and used a VA loan with our approval amount being based solely on my husbands income. We have a 5% interest rate and chose to put 3% down, though we know we didn’t need to do that. Mortgage and property tax is just about $2,700 a month. Veterans United approved him for $500k originally, which we thought was bananas. We make about $200k combined and have no other debt (my student loans are paid off, both cars paid off, he used GI bill to go to school), and feel comfortable with our current payment. We went into the home buying process looking for a 3bed/2bath with an absolute max cost of $400k. Our house was the 3rd offer we submitted, originally we were not the offer they accepted! Financing on the offer they had accepted fell through and we had asked our realtor to tell them keep us in mind as a back up just in case. Well, we got a call that their first offer fell through and our realtor asked if we wanted to proceed with our original offer, we said yes! Closed 30 days later. All of the work we have done on the house in the past year has been entirely cosmetic. Paint in almost every room, ripping up carpet (to find perfect hardwood underneath!), and some landscaping (beautified the fence, redid the fire pit, built a vegetable garden). We know this won’t be our forever home, but we hope to be here another 5 years or so. I’m currently 17 weeks pregnant with our first child, eventually we know we’ll outgrow the home. In the meantime we’d like to see if it’s possible to put a half bath in the basement, this will likely be the most costly project we decide to do, but think it will add value to our quality of life as our family expands. I can’t believe it’s been a year already, time flies!

2023.06.10 19:52 robotarm1 [36M] Stop Watching Porn and Other Bad Habits
Sorry for my bad english (not my native language) and perhaps long story.
I understand that a lot of people have bigger addictions and I seem to be a somewhat "functional" fapper.
But I hope that I can inspire myself and other to finally get rid of all the habits. Since 2005 I think my longest streak without fapping is about 2 or 3 days.
So here comes my FapStory:
It all began in the great internet-era of Altavista and searching for Pamela Andersson Naked and see the lagging image rendering on the screen. From that moment on, I was hooked.
In the era of 2005 the video clips were becoming available for streaming and you did not need pirating porn (viruses). From this age, I was a very horny teenager but discovered quickly that people started to get relationships and lose their virginities. But I enjoyed playing sports and did "focus" on that and not chasing girls.
Around this time I also started drinking and going to parties.
At High School, I enjoyed life very well and fapped away on a daily basis. I had it very easy before in school, but now I started to slack in different subjects. But I had my sport and became better, and I did not even get hungover when I partied. Thus - I became somewhat popular. And I loved it.
I was still a very horny teenager and fapped as soon I got the chance. My class was 3 dudes and 22 girls and I started to becoming friends and partied with them. And they became very comfortable with me/us and well, they were also horny teenager - and at a party my sexual adventure began. At parties, between classes and after school, there always someone who would like have a quickie of some sort.
I was social and popular and people liked me, but I did not have a deep connection with someone or a relationship. I tried one relationship, but I missed all my classmates (hehe).
Between my sport, parties and the sex - I thought - This is the good life! Well, I could have not been more wrong!
After graduation everyone went away to college - expect me for the bad grades. My friends started going to college and I was left alone. The parties went on (with younger people) but the lack of intimacy began and I started to fap more.
I got a (bad) job, with bad salary, started to get more hungover and stopped connecting with my friends that did not go to college. I had contact with my college friends but I envied their education.
I started to get more and more depressed and went to my safe space - Fapping. And now was the era of Pornhub and other streaming sites and it was an open market to discover rougher and kinkier stuff and I lost my charm and charisma.
The depression went on to go on with the lifestyle of partying and "living life" I began to get a debt and when the "turnaround" in my life happend (thanks to my friends) I had a debt om 40 000 USD with bad loans and rates.
During this period I had a couple of sexual encounters, but not on a deep connection or someone I liked. (Or it was not like Porn).
I thank my friends today for wanting to help me and I felt ashamed.
So, I've always had ideas and wanting to do stuff on my own, so I started a one-man company. (Yes, this was before the Forex Traders/Guru Sellers/MLM People.) It went well and I started to pay of my debt slowly. But I worked. A lot. Grinding the hours. And to loose some steam - I fapped.
Eventually I got picked up by another company and my career and salary started to flourish. But again. Grinding hours. Loosing steam with porn. Sometimes going to parties/dinners and keeping contact with friends. Once in a while, a drunken One Night Stand.
It took me 5 hard years but I payed of the debt and has now a salary of 120 000 USD / year. (I'm pretty good at what I'm doing.) But the work needed me to mingle, connect, party and what so not. My calendar was always full and I did not have time to date (prevarication), so to loose some steam - Fappening. (The god damn bad circle).
Then I made another bad decision. I thought, I need to have some more sex and began to visiting escorts. (Great idea...not!) It was good in the moment, but afterwards it was a very bad call. But it's nothing like the next story.
I matched with a girl on Tinder and started chatting with her and it became clear she wanted. me to be her Sugar Daddy (2022, I was 32) and I loved the idea. It was awesome (I thought.) We met a couple of times and she unlocked some of my kinks I never tried before (Just fappening to it a million times) like being a dom and a bit rougher. It was amazing contra the one night stands. We had a "relationship" for about a year and I met another girl, but eventually it got boring again and it was like fapping.
This year I realized that even if I have a great job, overcame my debt is that I am a very lonely person and seeing my friends creating families and getting children makes it not better.
I also forgot to mention that a couple of years I took quite a bit of cocaine and other stuff aswell.
And now I realize that I was very safe and had my space of fapping and releasing (LOL) energy. So instead of dating, meeting women and creating a connection I just saw them as objects and trophys.
So, I decided to stop fapping, quit drinking and taking other substances and making something of my life.
To quote Barney Stinson, "There is no meaning doing anything legendary if no one is there to see it."

2023.06.10 19:52 Ok-Constant-3772 Hard to get in the mood for pride this year
I realized I was bi when I was in like, 4th grade, I think? It was the “cool” thing for girls to call themselves bi at the time & me being a little shit head kid wanted to be in on it. A few weeks later when the trend had passed on, my bestie & I were pretty confused when we realized people didn’t ACTUALLY feel that way (shocker, she’s also bi)
Later on, I experienced a lot of trauma from the “community” in college & never really fit in. Or at least, wasn’t accepted. My girlfriend at the time kept referring to me as a “changed lesbian” & went through the whole “so you just pick when you’re straight & gay” thing. Went to an all girls school, so this was all amplified.
I’ve since stopped caring about all that. But what’s come of it is, I still don’t think I vibe with things that deal with pride. My wife is so excited to go to events this year, but this year feels different for me. I think those feelings are back maybe? Idk but I’m definitely not getting in the mood for it. She’s currently listening to a playlist of all her favorite songs for the gworls & having a blast. I want that feeling back so badly! But I’m not feeling it.
Anyone relate or have advice to move past it?
