2023.06.10 20:03 UniversalDH Dodger WS 2020 Tattoo

So since I got my first tattoo in 2003, I said when the Dodgers finally win the WS I would get one to commemorate it. Covid kind of put a delay on that, but I’m ready. Looking for input from Dodger bros on what I should get.
I was heavily leaning towards a patch style tattoo like this but of the World Champions patch on my arm where it’s placed on their jerseys, but after research looks like those don’t hold up. So any ideas? Should I do the trophy, the patch logo, but not as a realistic patch, the ring? Help meh!

2023.06.10 20:01 ZeonoxButBetter Attack of the Dead Terrans (Reupload)

The last one have some problem with spacing and character amount Sorry for the absence of story for the last two weeks. No I'm not dead, it's just my exams weeks. And because of that, I have to redirect a lot of energy from writing. So all the stories I've developed over the past two weeks have sort of run aground, and I'm not sure they're ready to be uploaded here, yet. But now I'm back and ready to write some more, so roll up that daily disclaimer: As usual accidental copy is truly unintentional
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ~7th Chromia Orbital Dock Facility~ ~Orbit of Oskwa~ "Have they arrived yet?" I asked to my fellow commander.
"Yes General Burg, the convoy has just unloaded the... cargo just now" General Von said, looking down through the glass barrier to the cargo bay below where hundreds of yellow capsule-like containers sat in rows.
"Good, so I assume that the assault could be launch in a few hours?" I asked.
"After we distributed this to the orbital bomber we should be clear to go"
"Excellent! We'll finally be able to destroy that annoying little castle of them" I exclaimed. Excited, because finally after months of fighting, we'll be able to seize the last stronghold of the Terran Republic on this planet.

Fort Linsky, a large military fortification built by the Terran Republic before the war on the planet of Oskwa, one of their territory at the time. Equipped with eight pairs of massive railgun cannons, each with the capability to penetrate anything ranging from our capital ships in low orbit to anything on the ground not covered by at least twenty meters of solid rock within the range of one thousand kilometers from its' location.
There were more of them before. But since our invasion, with either brilliant tactic, incompetent opponents, or a pinch of luck. We managed to destroy or seized all the other fort on this planet.
But Fort Linsky on the other hand is harder. Its fortification is enforced not only by its massive cannons, but also by what our soldiers on the ground called 'The Torture Zone'.
First the most obvious one, the giant wall covering the entire parameter. A huge twenty five kilometers long stone-composite wall, shaped like a giant star with spikes sticking out of each end, circling the ring where the railguns take places. Rendering all kind of ground incursion imposible.
Behind the wall there is the 'artillery', somewhat a miniature version of the railguns they're trying to protect. A long range kinetic weapon capable of yeeting medium sized projectile, both High Explosive and Armoured Piercing. Preventing any of our heavier vehicles to get close and deal any damages.
And then there is the 'always on particle shield'. While their counterpart in space is extremely weak, their usage here was proved effective against all sort of our attacks. Be it orbital bombardment, areal assault, or our own artillery or missile attack.

And of course lastly, we have the Human themself. A tough mammals bipedal species born on a level six death world. Raised by wars they have perfected the art of defense, utilizing the terrain and weather for their advantage.
In battle they themselves go forth to fight, in armor suit five meters tall equipped with a large gun and a pile of rockets that can be fired to scorch our troops.
And accompanied by innovative flying vehicles that uses a single propeller to lift themself from the ground, armed with the same weapon hold by the armour suit they become the thorns that've always prevented us from occupying this fort.
--------------------------------------------------------------
I stepped down from my transport ship to the barren ground, on a mountain ten kilometers away from the fort. Just outside their artillery range, and on a such makeshift observation point it would be worthless to shoot us out with their railguns.
"Is everything ready?" I asked to one of my officer.
"Yes Sir, General Borg just sent out the last confirmation signal" He reported.
"Good" I responded just before a flock of officers approach.
"Sir, are we sure with this?"
"Yeah gas attack seems a little too much, perhaps even breaching the Communities Treaty of war"
"And are we even sure this will work?" They asked one after another.

"Hey, do you remember what've they done all through the war? The sight of their armour suit killing all of our soldier? their rail gun destroying our base? I bet they have committed several warcrimes on their own.
And yeah, We're pretty sure this one will work. Our capsules is small enough to slip through the particle shield, and their content... Well gas attack have been banned by the Terran Republic, so I'm sure it's bad for them. And what gasses are we using again? chlorine and bromine? yeah I think they're included in the banned substance" I said reassuring the officers.

Not long after, the time finally came. Receiving the signal from the Borg, we sat and watched as hundred of small yellow capsules pierces the cloudy sky with green tails coming out of 'em. Passing through the Terrans shield, straight down to the rows of troops doing their morning call.
Landing next to the unsuspecting soldiers the capsules burst and released their contents. Thick green smokes billowed from the shattered containers, soon filling up the whole facility with an eerie chemical haze.
We watched silently from afar. We couldn't see individual soldiers anymore, but from the lack of large response or any other movements around the base, I think it's safe to assume we've caught the Terrans off guard.
"Yeah, that should kill them" I said breaking the silence.
"We better start moving now, before any surviving Terrans re-enact the automatic defense"

We jumped into our armoured vehicles, surrounded by around twelve thousand troops ready to captured the fort.
Approaching the structure, we could feel the atmosphere getting cold. The still lingering green gasses floating low on the ground, getting darker each moments as the thick cloud from the ever-closing storm covered the sky.
"Well at least the rain could clean up this mess" I said to myself.
Closing in, now only a few hundred meters, we could fully feel the eerie state of this fortress. A huge ominous dark wall covered in green haze stretched out for miles, accompanied by a huge thunder on our east suddenly halted the movement of our forces.
The frightened troops stopped on its march, shaking on their boots.
'What are they afraid of, there shouldn't be anyone anymore in that fort' I muttered, trying to figured out what happened.
And that's where I see it, no... see them.

Dozen of bulky silhouette, accompanied by a couple hundreds smaller hump lined up between us and the wall. I squint my eyes, the figures standing menacingly became clearer as the green smokes cleared.
'It-it's the Terrans! T-they're still alive!?!' I screamed internally, clenching the iron bars I was holding onto.
The Terrans, on their armoursuits once again challenging our march, but there's something wrong.
Their beige colored skin has grown darker, now with black ulcers and red patches covered many of their exposed area, their once white eyes were now bloodshot like those of an ancient creature on our folklore, and where their mouths should have been, were now covered by all kind cloths with their bright red bloodstains splatred on it.
My frustration and annoyance suddenly turned to fear and horror as my blood ran cold from the realization. They... they're not alive anymore. Me and my troops stand there for a minute, trying to process the sights we behold. The silence continued as fear crawls on our back, forcing us not to move a muscle.
Suddenly out of nowhere a blood screeching screams rang across the battlefield. The Terrans letting out a battlecry as they began to charges. An entire legion of the undead leaping into our position with the classic noise of rockets and artillery soon followed.
"Retreat! Retreat!" I shouted, breaking the stagnant of my remaining troops.
Without wasting a second, the remaining nine thousand troops ran away from the cursed fortress. Racing back to the safety of our base.
Skipping some heartbeats I looked back, to the horror we just made.
'We didn't kill them, we just make them mad'

2023.06.10 19:56 VeganNazarite Let’s Put It to the Test: Hebrews Part 5

Shabbat shalom everyone! Today I’m continuing the most important lesson ever. Many say that Yeshua abolished the Mosaic Law, and that the Old Testament is long gone and obsolete. Is the Law and the Prophets abolished? Let’s put the some of the writings of the New Testament to the test of the Law and the Prophets.
Last week we read that the author of Hebrews urges the Hebrews of the first century not to harden their hearts; if they hear the voice of Elohim or His spirit. The author calls the Hebrews of the of the first century not be like the fallen Israelites of the exodus during their forty years in the desert. What was missing from the fallen ones? It was faith in the promises and blessing of Yahweh. In addition, we learned that the “gospel” or the good news, according to the author is the Torah and not the story of Yeshua as is often said in modern churches.
Again, we can see that looking at the New Testament writings with the lens of the Torah, that the verses become clearer and there are no contradictions. Here is the score far:
The Torah: 15
Doctrines of Devils: 0
Let’s keep sharpening our proverbial spears and swords, which is the Word. Let’s continue our study of the epistle to the Hebrews. WMC no. 15 is Hebrews 4:2. In that verse we learn that the gospel according to the author of Hebrews are the blessings and promises that God gave to the Israelites in the Exodus.
Hebrews chapter 5:1-4
For every high priest taken from among men is ordained for men in things pertaining to God, that he may offer both gifts and sacrifices for sins: [2] Who can have compassion on the ignorant, and on them that are out of the way; for that he himself also is compassed with infirmity. [3] And by reason hereof he ought, as for the people, so also for himself, to offer for sins. [4] And no man taketh this honour unto himself, but he that is called of God, as was Aaron.
Last week the author declared Yeshua the son of God and pointed out to us the human nature of Yeshua, in example that he was tempted as each of us are in the earth, yet was without sin, and blameless in the eyes of Elohim. The author also urged us to keep our calling as priests, but with Yeshua as our High Priest. The author continues with that same idea, but this time shows us that all high priests are ordained from men with their infirmity. What infirmity is the author speaking about? Let’s go back to Galatians. In Galatians, Paul identifies that he himself has an infirmity:
Galatians 4:13-14
Ye know how through infirmity of the flesh I preached the gospel unto you at the first. [14] And my temptation which was in my flesh ye despised not*, nor rejected; but received me as an angel of God, even as Christ Jesus.*
That infirmity is the flesh with its desires and temptations. High priests must have a human nature to be able to understand and have compassion towards the believers that have less understanding or that may be disobedient to Yahweh’s laws, statutes and ordinances. The author then declares that no man can take that honor by himself, but only those called by Father himself as Aaron was in the book of Exodus.
Hebrews chapter 5:5-10
So also Christ glorified not himself to be made an high priest; but he that said unto him, Thou art my Son, to day have I begotten thee.[6] As he saith also in another place, Thou art a priest for ever after the order of Melchisedec.[7] Who in the days of his flesh, when he had offered up prayers and supplications with strong crying and tears unto him that was able to save him from death, and was heard in that he feared;[8] Though he were a Son, yet learned he obedience by the things which he suffered;[9] And being made perfect, he became the author of eternal salvation unto all them that obey him;[10] Called of God an high priest after the order of Melchisedec.
Then the author quotes Psalms 2:7 and Psalm 110:4 to prove to the Hebrews that in the scriptures, Yeshua was declared High Priest, not by his own admission, but rather by the righteous prophets and kings of old.
Hebrews chapter 5:11-14
[11] Of whom we have many things to say, and hard to be uttered, seeing ye are dull of hearing.[12] For when for the time ye ought to be teachers, ye have need that one teach you again which be the first principles of the oracles of God; and are become such as have need of milk, and not of strong meat.[13] For every one that useth milk is unskilful in the word of righteousness: for he is a babe.[14] But strong meat belongeth to them that are of full age, even those who by reason of use have their senses exercised to discern both good and evil.
The writer then ends chapter 5 speaking to the unbelieving Hebrews in no uncertain terms. He states that they are “dull of hearing” and that they should be teachers, but because of their unbelief, not necessarily towards the messiah, but even way back as Israelites of the exodus, many fell in the desert, because they failed to have the faith to believe the promises and blessing from El Shaddai. He then calls them babes unskilled in the ways of Elohim. He then declares that the ones who exercise their senses and gifts of discernment, are the ones who can discern between good and evil. Sooooo, use them! Put your pastor, preacher, priest or rabbi to the test. If they have added or removed from the Torah, they need to be rejected as blind men, leading others blind men into the ditch (Matt 15:14).
Some of you may have noticed that I changed “Paul”, to “the author” in this post. Someone in the comments last week mentioned that Paul may not be the author of Hebrews. Maybe he is, maybe he is not. What I find important is that the author does not add or remove from the Torah. I don’t see any new things in Hebrews, and I do see the texts very similar to the words of Paul. Perhaps the wonderful blessings and salutations are missing for a reason. Perhaps they are missing because the author decided to consider the unbelieving Hebrews as cursed and lost, and the author decided to listen to the words of Jerimiah.
Jerimiah 7:16-18
[16] Therefore pray not thou for this people, neither lift up cry nor prayer for them, neither make intercession to me: for I will not hear thee.[17] Seest thou not what they do in the cities of Judah and in the streets of Jerusalem?[18] The children gather wood, and the fathers kindle the fire, and the women knead their dough, to make cakes to the queen of heaven, and to pour out drink offerings unto other gods, that they may provoke me to anger.
Adonai, through the prophet Jerimiah tell his elect not to pray for Judah as they have lost their way through their idolatry. No wonder the author of Hebrews tells them that they need to be taught the “first principles of the oracles of God”. Those first principles are idolatry and taking care of the needy, as Yeshua teaches us.
Next week we will continue with chapter 6.
Don’t take it from me! Prove all things and judge for yourself. Let the spirit lead you where it wants you to be.
Yeshua is our master, savior and rabbi, we need no other man to lead us!
Shalom, VN

2023.06.10 19:54 Educational-Cobbler1 Advice Needed: is this a dealbreaker?

I am so confused and upset. My husband (35M) and I (31F) have been married for 2 years. When we first started dating I told my husband that my brother was gay and asked him if he was accepting of gay people/gay marriage. He said absolutely I don’t understand people who don’t.
My brother is now married to an amazing man and my brother officiated our ceremony.
Ever since the beginning of the pandemic my husband has leaned in a lot more to his faith by going to church more frequently and joining a bible study group.
Today he randomly started a conversation with me saying that he was upset that I put a rainbow bandana on our dog because the whole “pride month thing” makes him so uncomfortable. He said he does not wish any harm to anyone in the LGBTQ+ community, he will never use derogatory terms towards them and will speak up if someone uses those types of terms. He said it makes him uncomfortable because God intended a man and a woman to get married not man and man or woman and woman.
He says he loves my brother and will never treat him differently but he just wanted to express his feelings to me.
I don’t know how to trust that his feelings won’t become more extreme as he continues to becoming more religious.
I feel completely bamboozled and sick to my stomach. I don’t know how to proceed since we have such different views. I’m trying to process if this is a deal breaker or something we can work on. Any advice would be helpful.

2023.06.10 19:53 IllusiveA Telling my family results

About 2 years ago I told my family I am an atheist. I had been watching the atheist experience and lots of atheists on tik tok and youtube, which gave me the courage to tell them.
Some important information, I had been an atheist long before watching any atheist content, about 12 years. So I've been an atheist since I was 10. I had been hiding I was an atheist that whole time.
First, I told my mom since I felt like I could trust her. Here's how it went. Me: Mom I need to tell you something. Mom: What is it? Are you okay? Me: I wanted to let you know I'm an atheist and have been since I was 10. Mom: Oh is that it? Because I already knew. I thought you were going to tell me you're gay. Me: Wait. You already knew? How? And why would me coming out as gay was what I was going to say. Mom: You never seemed interested in church, and were big into science. A big tell was when you asked me about evolution when playing that DS game scribblenauts. Me: Thats surprising but why were you thinking that I was gay. Mom: Because you always act gay with your friends, and I didn't think being gay and an athiest would bode well in the long run because you would face so much ridicule. Me:Silence
2 days later I told my Grandparents. Me: Hi Grammy. I have something to tell you. Grandma: What is it? Me: I wanted to tell you that I'm an atheist and have been for a while. Grandma: That's ok. I wont judge you, and I want you to know that your Grandpa and I will always love you. But may I ask why you lost your faith. Me: I lost it long ago when I realized faith is not a passage to actual truth. Grandma: I see. If its alright may I read a passage to you? Me: Sure.Knowing very well its the passage about faith Grandma:Reads Hebrews 11 Me: I know that bible verse, Ive read the book a few times. Grandma: I just wanted to remind you of what faith is. But before we end the call, I wanted to reiterate that your family loves and accepts you, we will never push you away for being an atheist. Me: Thank you Grammy.
In the end, I was surprised by my family's reaction because I was afraid they would disown me. That's the main reason I kept it a secret. After all of their responses, I feel better about myself and can't thank the people who gave me the courage to tell my family enough.

2023.06.10 19:53 Katchano Things I would improve in D4 as a casual player

Hi guys. First of all, I really think this is a very solid game, a 8,5/10 for me and I am having fun. But as many other games it needs some polishing before it becomes really fantastic. Here are my suggestions. I know, much of that has been said before, but I believe we should repeat this until they listen:
Other than that, I think the game is great, well done Blizzard! Hail Lilith, blessed Mother!

2023.06.10 19:48 ShadowSV-U1 Self-promotion Thread

Use this thread to promote yourself and/or your work!
(Descriptions of fictional crimes investigated by the story's main Character Max.)
Detective's Fate
It's august of 2008.....
Max is a detective living in Chicago He checks his pistol and puts on his police badge as he walks out his front door.
He has been searching for a serial killer known as the Caller for years and always been one step behind due to the red tape.....
More importantly the chief's lazy attitude towards getting search warrants and actions approved by the courts for raids. Twice Max had good intel on the suspect's locations and photo evidence showing him at the sites.
The department needs more vigilant, caring officers and leaders but no one steps up to do it, instead they just complain about the slow progress and officers. And hinder investigations.
Now Max has decided that it might be time to stop playing by the rules and catch this scumbag.... .... ....
Starting his car Max sets his GPS to the address that "The Caller" was last seen and pulls out of his driveway as the 50 miles of directions pop up.
The killer's nickname being for his signature of calling in as he is committing the crime.
As he drives he remembers his first case, five years ago now..... ..... .....
A woman, Joane Taylor, was found dead in an alleyway after going out for the night. She showed no signs of struggle leading the police to believe she had drank to much and expired from alcohol poisoning.... ...
The death was written off as a "party gone wrong".... That is until several more were found and the coroner decided on a whim to test for other substances.
Once it came out that the deaths were possible murders...
The calls started coming in, almost like the suspect wanted credit before revealing himself....
Then ways of the deaths began changing as the Serial Killer explored his twisted desires searching for his preferred method.
The last case being a young woman found stuffed in a dumpster after the killer apparently got scared off.... Max will never forget it.... .... ....
The GPS finishes and the car beeps its final direction, taking an exit off the highway. Ramps out here are always confusing... Which is funny since he has driven this one for five years now...
The chief says he should sit this one out but he can't... The latest victim 3 months ago.
Marie Spelner, a waitress out on her smoke break talking to her spouse on the phone.
Survived by her husband, no children or living relatives. ....
Max Spelner turns into the driveway of the house he was directed to... Stepping out of the car he walks up and knocks on the door. Looking at the house he knows the family must be doing well if they live here.... Raising his hand to knock again he hears a scream from inside....
A second later the door is answered by a middle aged butler holding a tray with wine glasses on it... "Hello Sir, I'm sorry but this house does not wish to partake in any offers at this time..."
Max calmly says. "I'm not selling anything."
The butler looks confused for a moment before his eyes dart over Max's shoulder seeing his unmarked cruiser and he nods.
Looking past the butler Max sees that a woman is cleaning up after their dog.
"Have you seen this man?" Says Max holds up a picture of the one suspected of being the killer.
The butler gives it a once over before replying. "I'm sorry sir, no I have not." His tone sounds like he is lying... ....
"Are you sure?" The detective asks.
"I would not lie about something like that, sir." He states, his eyes not meeting Max's.
The woman calls from inside "Fletcher, who are you talking too?"
"Some man asking about a killer" he calls back.
"The killer is an inside job!" The woman quickly states.
"What?!" Max says.
"The Killer, it's an inside job." She says again, louder this time. In the same Max also hears a child begin to cry in another room.
"We should start from the beginning, it will be easier to explain trust me." The woman says.
'She seems to know what is going on....
"How do I know your story holds water?" He asks out loud.
"Oh I wouldn't lie. I have been following the case myself and it seems like an inside job to me." She states, somehow sounding hurt.
"Is there anyone else in the house besides you two and the baby?" He asks noticing the baby isn't crying anymore.
"Just Fletcher and I live here, the baby is my cousins but he just stays the night sometimes." She replies.
Max draws his gun and enters the house upon reasonable suspicion of an emergency in progress or suspect on the premisses as the man seems to be deceiving.
While the woman still seems unconcerned that the child is now silent.
He pushes past the butler and rushes towards the area he heard the crying. passes the entryway, the dinning room, and a kitchen before finally finding a child in a playpen.
"There there..." He says in a sing song voice picking up the child. "I'm officer Max, do you know where your mommy is?"
The child just cries louder.
Then he sees the man from the photo walk out of the bathroom, upon seeing him he bolts for the door and Max sets the child down gently then gives chase.
He runs through the house, following the man as he can hear the woman screaming at him to stop but he doesn't."
"Stop or I'll shoot." The man doesn't even break stride.
Instead he runs out of the front door and jumps into his car.
Furious that the man might escape he fires at the car as it drives away.
The back window shatters and he hopes he got his tire, but he doesn't wait to find out as he runs to his car and initiates a pursuit....
He flips on his concealed lights in his cruiser as he reverses down the drive and into the street.
The suspects car is fast but he manages to keep up with it weaving in and out of traffic as people move over for the siren.
As they approach a red light there is heavy traffic in the intersection..... ....
The suspect slams on his brakes and Max's cruiser only just stops short of hitting it. Jumping out the Detective points his firearm at the vehicle running up beside seeing heavily tinted windows.
"Get out of the car and on the ground now!!" He shouts as he moves to the driver's side door.
After seeing no response....
Max throws open the door and the driver is gone with the passenger side open.
He quickly runs to the other side catching the man trying to sneak off tackling him to the ground and then takes his arms putting them behind his back.
Max grabs his radio and calls it in as the man cries.
As he is waiting he hears a noise that sounds like static.....
"Wrong guy moron.. Did you ever stop to think I wanted you close for this one. That I planned everything...Even framing the pothead..... I almost lost interest until you pulled in the driveway... The attic is kinda cramped tho... I think I'll go carve some meat. Maybe graduate to other things to. I'm not sure yet. Lets see if you can catch me before......" A familiar voice says over the radio then cuts off... ...
Max looks at the man on the ground. "Why did you run from me?" He asks.
"Cause I have like 19 grams of marijuana in my pocket." He replies...
"Do you know how stupid that is?! I don't care about that I'm looking for a killer."
Before he can answer Max hears the woman from the house screaming for her life and a child's cries on his radio.
Then from below Max. "He's in the house, he's in the house! My mom and the baby!" The man on the ground says crying.
Max uncuffs him and runs to his car heading back to the house as he lays down rubber on the road... ... ...
As he approaches and pulls into the driveway he notices the front door is open.
"Hold on I'm coming!" Max screams jumping out of his cruiser...
He runs into the house finding the woman's body arriving too late. Moving over to her he checks for a pulse but she is gone, a large gash in her neck.
As he stands up he slips in a fluid but gains his balance and tries not to think about what it is....
He rushes to the room the baby was in finding the play pen empty. He leaves the room searching the rest of the house and still doesn't find the child.
"Where are you!!!" He calls out....
"This is the Callers first kidnapping and the media would eat up the fact I failed to stop the man." He thinks as he blames himself.
Sirens begin to blare in the distance as backup is about to arrive... ... ...
"There's a woman dead and a baby missing! The woman is in the dinning room straight ahead of the front door, Hurry!" He yells into his radio...
Looking over at the mother seeing a piece of paper on the floor.
He walks over to it seeing writing.
"So close... Looks like I'm a kidnapper now.... Good luck finding me.... And... I so enjoyed killing that sweet wife of yours. Might do it that way again. Not to the kid tho....later Max. Ps. This game is so fun.." It says.
"He was here..." Is all he can muster as the team enters.
"He was right in this house and I missed it because her son freaked over weed and ran..." He says as another officer speaks to him gently.
"Don't beat yourself up Detective, it's not your fault. He must have hid before you got her and left after you arrived." The words do little to comfort him "First day back on the job and the killer escaped taking a child..." He says as he walks away.
The chief arrives in his new lexus with a screeching of rubber as he lurches to a halt.
He quickly exits and leaves his door hanging open as he rushes into Max's face....
"I told you to stay away from this case MAX!!!!....(takes a breath)...
"If I catch any flak from my superiors, I won't suspend you.... That'd be to easy. Desk duty and an entry level demotion. The new guy will have a higher rank than you if things go my way.... Now get outta my sight...". "(Sighs)...
"This job is gonna be the death of me..." He says walking away from Max and towards the Coroner's van..... ..... .....
On the way home the detective stops by the store close to his house which is unlike him because he usually follows the same routine.
He nears the front door and he hears a kitchen timer ding loudly from behind him as his car explodes throwing him through the storefront windows as they are blown out..... .....
Alarms around the lot and others nearby create a cacophony of noise. His head pounding as his body aches, Max pushes himself up and collapses as the store manager runs over to him telling him not to move as he dials 911.... .... ....
Waking in the hospital Max recalls the feeling of the Shockwave as he flinches in phantom pain.
"Who woulda thought its like holding a ringing metal bat that hurts your hands but all over and way more intense." He thinks.
He suddenly feels tired and falls asleep.... .... .... ....
The next time he wakes, he sees a breaking news story that Jane Saltani is reporting on....
"Young toddler Accidently Shoots Serial killekidnapper ending his life and Alerting residents in the Area." The news anchor says.
Sighing to himself Max thinks about how crazy that is and laughs.
Tho he really wanted to bring the guy in. He closes his eyes to get some much needed sleep as his door opens.
Max looks up to see a man with a silenced pistol pointed at him.
"Hm. Now they think I'm dead. Funny how they just assume they got the right guy. Just like.... You did Detect... ....." Max hears but then hears no more as his end comes at just over the speed of sound....
The Caller leaves the hair of another intelligent convicted murderer that he obtained in a spot that's believable and quickly leaves.....
He disables the surveillance system and sends a virus out to any device that has received video data from the hospital.
Erasing and corrupting the systems. Leaving a master hackers finger prints on a glass from his home....
"Sorry, no witnesses." He says to the security guard as he fires... ..... ..... .... ....

I found the PERFECT stock, and I’m betting everything on it. [Archive of WSB post]
Disclaimer: this is my own stupid thinking, not investment advice. Ask your wife’s boyfriend if this is right for you.

Summary

Feel like you missed out on winners, or were too scared to put in your Doordash check? $SOFI is literally the next big thing. Bears/bulls, value/growth, regards/chads- it fits every DD. I’m so sure I maxed out my entire life savings. Considering a line of credit on my mom’s house and a margin loan next.
PROOF:
Brokerage and 401k (in the process of converting the other stocks)
Roth IRA
Robinhood options
This is NOT some SPAC bagholder trying to boost the stock price, nor is it a 0DTE cokehead move. This is a rational thesis for (I believe) a smart equity play. Did I see it go up a few cents, cream my pants, and think I’m the next Buffett writing this post? Maybe. In my opinion this is a 100% small penis 4-bagger and I’m sharing it like Moses with acid tabs.
Here’s the 4-point DD for you with ADHD:
  • It’s Robinhood, but actually good for you
  • The company is in great shape
  • Permabears and bulls have reasons to love it
  • The brand is (let me explain) the next JPMorgan Chase

Thesis

Product
  • SoFi is actually a great product. Is it the BEST? Fuck no. But it’s like the goldilocks/Anna Kendrick of all apps. The Friday night reliable.
  • The company is going for this generation’s next big bank. It is high-interest, chartered (4.3% APY) and offers everything you need under the sun.
  • The whole company’s theme is: “Get your money right.” They want to be the one-stop shop for all your MONEY needs and they do it with a bank teller smile.
  • SoFi will ride or DIE with you. Student loan refi, your job’s direct deposit, a loan for that cock ring, a credit card for that solo trip to Thailand, a HELOC for that YOLO stock play. It goes on and on.
  • They have consumers in mind, and not in a fake old lady See’s Candy kind of way. For example: if you lose your job and can’t pay your student debt, they will pause your payments and help you find a job. No joke. Look beyond the news and you’ll see people are over the moon about their relationship with SoFi.
  • They have a few bad spots (dogshit trading platform and ETFs that never move), but they are trying so fucking hard. I could go on and on, but it’s 5:49am (couldn’t sleep, came up with this post in a fever dream) and I have a ton more to write.
  • They also have Galileo and Technisys, which are like new PVC pipes for the financial system. I’m literally too smoothbrained to explain this, all you need to know is there is a lot of real interest from banks and companies to use these products. sofistock has nerds who can explain this to you.
Financials
  • Okay here comes the boring stuff, so skip this if you don’t care about amateur due diligence.
  • Remember when banks used to pay good interest, then you realized they were pocketing it all? People are realizing and going to SoFi. When the bank crisis happened and everyone was moving their money out, SoFi actually GAINED deposits. The company has said they are on-track to add $2B each quarter, and management are known to low-ball their estimates. NINETY PERCENT of their customers use direct deposit for their premium membership SoFi Plus, which will only accelerate the trend. You know how hard it is to change banks with direct deposit. Sticky as shit.
h/t SnipahShot for the graphic
  • SoFi has EIGHT fucking quarters of consecutive revenue growth, is EBITDA profitable (whatever that’s worth to you), and is projected to be GAAP profitable by Q4. I think there’s an outside chance this happens in Q3. Dig into it more if you want to Burry it https://s27.q4cdn.com/749715820/files/doc_financials/2023/q1/Q1-23-Investor-Presentation_.pdf
  • SoFi is growing WHILE student loans have been paused. Name a better miracle. They replaced it by diversifying their business in financial services (e.g. the shit I mentioned earlier) and other loans.
  • While most banks have been selling their loan books at a loss to manage higher interest rates, SoFi have been keeping theirs to maturity and getting a higher return. There is a lot of debate into this, especially around how they calculate mark to market, so again do your own DD about this.
  • By the way: “there are many reasons insiders sell a stock, but only one reason to buy.” The CEO Anthony Noto is eating pork and beans like me buying the stock like CRAZY. I mean just look at this degeneracy. He knows he has a chance to become the next billionaire bank CEO Jamie Dimon and has purchased back $13.6m dollars worth of shares (1/5 of his total comp so far lmfao).
He had to disclose his wife buying on the side too
Macro
  • Big picture time. Full disclosure, I’m a permabear. I literally have the worst outlook on things and I metaphorically killed my therapist with my doom and gloom. This country is so levered up to the tits it’s just one gentle breeze away from collapsing.
  • But you know who always gets paid? By hook and crook, the banks will get what they’re owed. If not we are all fucked and/or there will be a bailout. If everything is going to shit, banks are the least dogshit shit. Would you rather buy a stock with a tremendous amount of debt super dependent on consumer spending, or something that will make money in a depression?
  • I said this was a stock for everyone. For the permabulls, everything is fine and SoFi is growing its metrics like a rocket ship. What is there to lose? The management team has signaled good outlooks and the stock price has gone up consecutively since June 1st.
  • For value investors, this stock is still near book value. Most bank stocks are, but considering its fair value by Morningstar ($16) or PT by well-known analysts ($8-12) there are still some mArGiN oF sAfEtY
  • Growthies, this is a tech stock BABY. They are the AWS of finance! They use tech to analyze loan risk. They have AIAIAIAI in a chat bot! Upside everywhere
  • Oh and by the way, $SOFI is not correlated with its peers. Look at $LC $UPST and other fintech companies in the sector. In my mind it’s becoming the Nubank of America.
  • The Fed is expected to “skip” rate hikes next week. Long term that means APY is probably plateauing and on a downward trajectory. But if you know SoFi has done nothing but good and given you the best interest rate, why move?
Brand
  • Okay let’s start with them suing the government for pausing student loans. The CEO has addressed this multiple times: they support student loan FORGIVENESS, but when it comes to PAUSING payments for borrowers who don’t qualify, they thought the 3rd year was excessive. Yes they shit the bed bad for that, but they’ll recover.
  • Aside from the revenue, a big reason they did this is because the CEO has integrity. Like too much integrity to let this go for shareholders. Anthony Noto grew up working class, graduated from West Point, and rose through the ranks in the finance world. Imagine if Charlie from Charlie and the Chocolate Factory was real and became a banking god.
  • His track record is insane. CFO for the NFL during record growth. COO for Twitter where he was putting out garbage fires. He knows how to run shit, and now he’s back in finance after SoFi booted the last CEO for being pervy.
  • One downside, he is boring as shit. He won’t talk about who’s a pedo, how Soros is evil or some other drama. He only talks about banking and banking accessories I tell you what. Bank Hill
  • Look at his Twitter Likes. https://twitter.com/anthonynoto/likes He knows something is brewing, and he gets a big payday if the stock hits $45.
  • Back to the company. At a recent fintech conference hosted by Piper Sandler, Noto announced that SoFi has a Net Promoter Score (how much people like the brand) of 80 for its loan business. For context, American Express has 52. The math says SoFi is literally 54% better.
  • Maybe part of the reason is because they have the naming rights to a football stadium in Los Angeles. One where little kids go to see Taylor Swift and grown ass men watch other grown ass men smack into one another. Where it’s mentioned all the time for being state of the art and environmentally friendly in the largest entertainment market. WHERE THEY WILL HOST MULTIPLE WORLD CUP GAMES AND OLYMPIC SPORTS.
  • I mentioned the SPAC bagholders. They still exist and have been pounding nonstop about the stock all the way down. There are some stonk flashbacks here that are about to explode.

BUT BUT BUT…

  • iTs pRiCeD iN – Wall Street is only getting a taste of this dildo. Once the annual shareholder meeting comes along next week and estimates come in better than expected on earnings, this next door 2 turns into a 10.
  • Student loans defaults are coming, you stupid fuck – You think the bank will let you go to Disneyland once they start asking for their money? They will garnish wages and withhold taxes on you plebs. Grow up or move to Vietnam. Or, just maybe, the stock goes up and you use the profits to pay off the ball and chain?
  • This is literally your first time posting to WSB – Yes, I’m a fucking worm lurking in the shadows. This will be the one and only thesis I put out.
  • Wedbush has a PT of $3, this thing is going down – Go ahead and listen to David Chiaverini, who has a success rating of 35% and has no skin in the game https://www.tipranks.com/experts/analysts/david-chiaverini Or me, who’s about to mortgage everything because he see’s asymmetric risk.
  • Why post now? – I genuinely think this will get re-rated with a soft tech valuation of $32, and we’re at the cusp of it happening.
  • What will change the price – Market realization, better than expected results coming soon, major deals announced, new product releases planned this year. Literally yesterday they announced “SoFi at Work”, a program to allow employers to help contribute to student loan payments.

In Conclusion

Take this however you want, go fuck yourself etc. If you miss the boat, DM me to sign up for a new SoFi account and get up to $275 back when you set up direct deposit.
Again I cannot stress this enough, this is not financial advice and please do your own research.

2023.06.10 19:38 fluffybananabread Friends that never answer the phone

I have this friend who used to reply quickly to my texts. I never really called him at first, but one time I did, and he didn't answer. I was like, mmkay, but didn't think much of it at the moment.
He has called me a few times but unfortunately my phone didn't ring. Every time that happened, I immediately called back and texted him that I was sorry and that I was calling him back, and still, he didn't answer.
I was okay with it at first, but every time I want to talk to him about something important, he doesn't answer. If we're arguing and I call, no answer. If I want to just talk about something silly, still no answer. And on top of that, he also takes looong to text back now. He says he adores me and talks to me every day, but it annoys me that he takes so long to text back and that he never answers any phone call.
All of my friends always answer my calls, and I do too. And at least we try to apologize if we can't answer or immediately text back something like "Hey, i can't answer, what happened," but he doesn't.
It bothers me because it makes me feel like I couldn't count on him if I needed him urgently. Like last night, I was feeling very overwhelmed and texted him, but he didn't answer. I have him a few hours, thought he was probably busy, but still nothing. I called him, no answer. He texted back hours later. I felt hurt.
He told me he would be there for me always, but it doesn't feel like it. I dont know if he's like that with everyone, but I've seen him reply fast to other people like he used to when we first met. And I've seen him go out of his way to help a friend in need as soon as they text him. It makes me feel bad.
It bothers me, I've tried to tell him, but he just doesn't change.
Is he a good friend, or is he a fake one? Should I stop trying?

2023.06.10 19:37 ughtheinternet Engaged two weeks I already hate my wedding :(

First, I love my fiancé and I'm so happy to be building a life with him.
My ideal wedding would be me and him sharing vows with like under 10 people out in some sort of pretty, natural space. My concerns with something big are a) finances and b) feeling uncomfortable, stressed, and scrutinized on a day that I really want to feel celebratory, easy, and happy. A tiny wedding like that isn't really feasible because of his preferences and family responsibilities, and that's okay. He has a huge family, and weddings/celebrations are a cultural thing for them, and I want to respect that.
Before getting engaged, we had talked about doing a small church ceremony with just our immediate families (which would still be around ~25 people) and then doing a low-key big backyard-BBQ type party for extended family, friends, etc. My hope was that they could be on different days on the same same weekend. I was really happy with that idea, and it seemed like a nice compromise. But now that we're engaged, things keep blowing up. I'm not sure if it's his family or if he just got bit by the wedding bug now that we're actually engaged. Now we're suddenly looking at venues so that the reception can go as late as everyone wants. We're looking for cheap food, but at least one option got vetoed by family. It seems like having the ceremony and reception on different days is off the table, and it seems like the ceremony itself is going to include everyone as well.
I personally feel like the wedding day should be about the couple, but I know that the prevailing notion is that it's for the family. Neither view is wrong, I don't think, and I'm trying to shift to the second point of view. If it was all going to be arranged by someone else and paid for by someone else, I would just shrug my shoulders and attend. But I keep thinking about how much money I'm going to spend and how much time and energy I'm going put into a day that I'm going to hate. I've spent the last 6 years working really and sacrificing a lot to save money for a down payment, and it makes me sick to think of all of that going to a giant party.
Now every time I think about the act of getting married I start just crying. I know I'm probably catastrophizing, but I'm just so overwhelmed by it all. I don't see a way out of it, and I just see it leading to a ton of resentment on my part, and I don't want to start my marriage like that.
I don't even know what I'm looking for with this. I guess reassurance? Advice? Commiseration?

2023.06.10 19:35 D3xidus Is there anyone left with grace?

Having grace is described as having golden light in the eyes, but so far the only people I've seen that look like that are Millicent and the random enemies that spawn with them, but I'm unsure as to whether those are canon examples of people who still have it. I know Dark Souls had at least one canonically not undead person (Sieglinde) so I'm wondering if it's the same in Elden Ring.

2023.06.10 19:34 jdierk Lord of the Rings Retheme

Hi everyone! It's my friend's birthday next week, and I thought it would be great to combine two things he loves, Lord of the Rings with Blood on the Clocktower. I figured I would just rename the roles in a custom script, so I would love to hear thoughts on how it works thematically as well as mechanically.
Townsfolk
Outsiders
Minions
Demon
This is my first time going outside of the standard scenarios, so all advice welcome! Also not too sure about having two Gandalf roles, so I'm not wholly married to this inital draft.

Exactly 50 years ago, the Soviet architect and restorer Ludwig Heinrich Mavrikievich died
Exactly 50 years ago, the Soviet architect and restorer Ludwig Heinrich Mavrikievich died. In recent years his name has become popular in the West as “one of the people caught up in Stalin’s purges, he was killed because of his knowledge about aliens; he was officially accused of being a spy for the Vatican, but in 2011, the Russian paper Top Secret claimed that his work at the Vatican was studying manuscripts that indicated ancient alien contact“. In this vein, his name became known thanks to a popular documentary TV series “Ancient Aliens“, on the History Channel, an episode of “Russia’s Secret Files“.
The film claimed: “The reason he was accused of being a spy for the Vatican is because in 1920s, as a young student of architecture, he visited the Vatican, where he was given access to the secret library. In that library, he found manuscripts that describe extraterrestrial civilizations and more. Dr. Genrikh Ludvig discovered a number of manuscripts suggesting that there had been historic extraterrestrial contact with ancient civilizations in Egypt, Israel, and Mesopotamia. These manuscripts that talked, for example, about the pyramids and described them as energy machines.” The film went on to make a bold attempt to identify Russian cosmism with Ancient astronauts.

All such information about Heinrich Ludwig’s connection to Vatican archives and aliens is based on a single Russian-language source – the article “Professor Ludwig’s Worlds” in the Russian newspaper Sovershenno Sekretno (“Top Secret”), written by journalist Vladimir Kucharyants, who, as he himself claims, personally knew Ludwig when was a student at the Institute. The article explains the episode in which the Soviet architect was allowed access to the Vatican archives this way:
“He, who was studying the Etruscans and deciphering their language, was extremely interested in the documents held in the Vatican library. In his ‘Herodotus journey’, Rome was one of the key points. At the Vatican he sought permission from the Cardinal, the keeper of the library. As one of his arguments, he cited a terrible Italian swearword that blasphemously commemorated Our Lady… The Cardinal, becoming enraged, wanted to throw him out, but when Ludwig began hastily revealing to him the etymology and esoteric meaning of these words (and it is very different, almost sacred in Etruscans), the Holy Father was so impressed by his knowledge that he not only allowed him into the vault, but also allowed him to photograph the necessary documents.”
Apart from this anecdotal episode, the article also claims other contradictory biographical details, such as:
“I was brutally beaten at interrogations, demanding confessions of fantastic absurdities: ‘While a member of the VKP(b), I was simultaneously a resident of American, German, Polish, Turkish and Vatican counterintelligence for 15 years, trading in the blood of workers and peasants in the USSR. Prepared the bombing of the Nikolaev grain elevator (I have never been to Nikolaev). Organised the largest assassination attempt in the form of explosion of all bread lines of the USSR. He was a chairman of fascist organisation in the Soviet Union…”. I must say a special word about one subtle trick in the methodology of the investigation. After another refusal by me to testify, the investigator opened the door to the corridor of the Lefortovo prison’s investigation rooms and nodded to someone. Nearby a woman was being brutally beaten. -Do you recognise it? – The investigator gloated. I grew wary, lost in anguished speculation. – You scoundrel, bastard, fascist! You don’t pity your own wife! And we’re only beating her because of you… I’ve never heard my wife scream like that before! When the woman fell unconscious, then /she/ let out a moan, I shouted: – Stop it! I’ll sign everything, just don’t hit my wife. At the dictation of the investigator I signed slanderous testimony against myself…”. Later he found out: it wasn’t his wife who was tortured. His wife, a Party worker, was still living happily in their big, cosy flat on Tverskaya street. She had written a denunciation about her husband.”
In this case, according to Kucharyants, this is a fragment of the manuscript, which the professor’s widow herself provided to the journalist. Another source, A.V. Trubetskoy’s memoirs “Paths undiscovered“, mentions another episode relating to the architect Ludwig:
“There was a rather famous architect, Heinrich Ludwig, an elderly, grey-haired man with bushy eyebrows (the kind of man who usually smokes a pipe when he is outside). I knew him well. Ludwig told me that he had entered a design competition for the Palace of the Soviets, and his design had been exhibited and published. In the camp Ludwig had a hernia operation and had his navel cut out. The operated one later joked that only Adam, as not being born by a woman, did not have a belly button.”
Some more reliable sources report that before the crackdown, Ludwig held the following positions: “head of the architectural workshops of the People’s Commissariat of Health (1934-1935) and the People’s Commissariat of Light Industry (1935-1937) of the USSR, professor at the MIIT, MISI, MVTU, the Military Engineering Academy, director of the MArhI (1936-1937), head of restoration work in the Kremlin, in the Ostankino and Arkhangelskoye estates, the Church of St Basil the Blessed, the Trinity-Sergius Lavra. He has carried out over 200 major projects.
He is considered to be one of the most active figures of the Russian architectural avant-garde. In the words of art historian Selim Omarovich Khan-Magomedov, he “synthesised an artist and an engineer”. It is said that he travelled to Turkey at the personal invitation of Ataturk, the founder of the Turkish nation, who decided to change the face of Ankara, and met with him repeatedly. Ludwig created the design for a Soviet embassy in Turkey, the year after the young Republic of Turkey was founded. He was also the author of competition designs for the monument to Christopher Columbus in Santo Domingo and the Palace of the Soviets in Moscow.

Artist Vyacheslav Lenkov made this statement in the newspaper Russky Vestnik about the unrealised project of the Palace of the Soviets:
“When Stalin finally came to power before the war, he summoned a specialist and told him to scientifically substantiate that this enormous Palace on the site of the Cathedral of Christ the Saviour was technically impossible to build. It was Professor Ludwig Heinrich Mavrikievich. He was later reminded of this memo and exiled to Siberia for his German origin, and in the camp his bones were crushed – as if they had been made into a crucifix. Then he could hardly walk, but he came back and taught at our place.”
Meanwhile, in the Volga Correctional Labour Camp, Ludwig worked as an architect in the technical department of the Volgostroy NKVD. Later, he was head of construction works, technologist at plant No.1 of the MGB in Yaroslavl; chief architect of the camp in the town of Spassk in the Karaganda region. It may be noted that he worked as an architect in Rybinsk, during the construction of the Rybinsk hydroelectric power station during the flooding of the ancient trade and religious centre, the town of Mologa.
The following year after Stalin’s death Heinrich Ludwig was released from the camps (having been convicted under Article 58-6-1 of the Criminal Code of the RSFSR, espionage) and rehabilitated a couple of years later. After the exile he taught, was a corresponding member of the USSR Academy of Construction and Architecture, was the editor of the journals “Architecture in the USSR” and “Architecture Abroad”, and was an honorary member of the Institute of Archaeology in Illinois (USA).
It is difficult to determine what is reliable information among the many biographical fragments from the life of Heinrich Ludwig and what is not: whether he was a talented architect, innocently condemned by the Soviet system for espionage, or whether he was a “great architect” of Soviet and international secret societies, with a fabricated and mythologized biography, of the rank of Nikolai Alexandrovich Morozov (the forefather and architect of the New Chronology theory, the venerable master of the Zarya Peterburga Lodge). In any case, Ludwig was connected with space not only by hypothetical ancient aliens from “Sovershenno Sekretno” newspaper, but also by close cooperation with Alexander Chizhevsky, a representative of Russian cosmism, who during his lifetime was removed from several leading positions for falsification of scientific research results. It was Ludwig who wrote the first review of one of Chizhevsky’s last manuscripts, “On the Shore of the Universe – Memories of K.E. Tsiolkovsky“, a fragment of which was put on the cover of the posthumous edition.

“Nowhere is the personality of K.E. Tsiolkovsky, as a man, so clearly and distinctly portrayed as in the book under consideration… In the literature about K.E. Tsiolkovsky there is nothing more powerful… The work of Professor A.L. Chizhevsky, an eyewitness and friend of the genius scientist, should be called a classic… Professor G.M. Ludwig”

2023.06.10 19:30 CouchCon Craziest thing

Craziest thing
Pulled into gas station, headed to see family with my family. Man pulls up behind me, asks me to come to his car. Red flag, but wife has pistol in purse and boys are strapped in. He hands me a necklace and ring, says he needs cash, that his wife had purse stolen. He said he was from Dubai, here visiting family, needed gas money to get to Miami, FL. To catch flight home, and money for hotel along the way. This is in Central OK. Red flags for days. I tell him to keep it, gave him all cash I had in my wallet, and said he blessed. Pay it forward, leave us be because I’m weirded out and want my family out of this situation. Multiple people around, busy station, but just not a situation I want to be in.
After I gave the necklace and ring back, with the cash, he takes off his watch and necklace he had on his neck. Asked if I could spare any more, that the 4 items are worth a lot. So, taking this as he needs more money, and my tax returns just coming in, I spare a ATM visit and return cash and all items to him. I don’t want your fake things, just be blessed man.
He wouldn’t let me give them back. Refused it, just wanted the cash. Made me promise not to sell Jesus piece.
At this point I was like, okay I got to go, get out of this situation, freaked out.
But, now I have these items and wondering wtf I should do first. How to validate if actually real? All says 18k, Rolex seems legit but I’ve got no clue.

2023.06.10 19:18 SagoK22 are some people due to different genetics/anatomy not able to scuba dive painless?

I had my first scuba experience a year ago with a friend in a small group, I watched a lot of info material on what to do how to behave especially about equalizing.
During my dive I tried to constantly equalize but I noticed at even 1-2m depths pain in my ears and my "light" tinnitus condition went crazy.
During the dive I went up and down a lot, the pain was constant and sometimes unbearable in which case I ascended a bit.
I pushed myself to finish the Dive, at the end when we got out my ears were ringing and were blocked so much my hearing got very bad for almost half a day. My friend who also dove for the first time had the time of his life with no issues at all.
That got me thinking, are some people just not able to comfortably scuba dive? the experience was amazing but the pain got me scared to try it again, maybe next time I would take very very slow descends? but I dont know if that would be helpful at all.

2023.06.10 19:17 CrimsonViel Jagger

Jagger
I have only ever told this to my close friends. I feel like people need to know me first, and know me well, to know that I'm not crazy before I tell them this story. Maybe this isn't like most creepy pasta stories, I'm not telling you something horrible and terrifying that I'm pretending is happening now. I'm telling you something that DID happen. Something that has NO explanation. Something so irrefutable by my own mind, that it forced me to choose being Agnostic, over being Atheist, because what I saw and felt was proof, there is something more out there.
I must have been about 12. My family had just moved to South Carolina, my family being my Dad and step-mom. We didn't have a proper house yet, just an apartment. It's not the kind of place that I would have ever expected something like this to happen. This place, I'm sure, was not haunted. After some research when I was a kid I concluded that there was no burial ground, no reason whatsoever for this location to be home to some type of repeat-cycle haunting.
One day I was grounded, probably for something that I did at school. I couldn't tell you at this point as it so immediately became the least of my worries. Three days, I was to stay in my room, only to come out for dinner and nothing else. There just so happened to be a Ghost Hunters marathon on around this time, and I had a TV in my room so I thought it as good a way as any to pass the time.
As I watched the shows I became very skeptical, but there were some encounters that made me think to myself, it's weird none of this has happened to me. Over the next day or so I even became a little jealous of the more intense encounters the people on the show were having.
Bored out of my entire mind I began to contemplate some way to get a ghost to visit me. I thought of a Ouija board. However I had no money and didn't know anyone with one. The most straight forward way to go about it I supposed was to ask. Now as a kid, coming from an abusive home, separated parents, mother was a drug addict who left us, I had to grow up sooner than most. I had considered death, and life, and what came after, many times all on my own. I had come to the conclusion that I just can't believe anything I'm told, and would rather see for myself if there is anything out there. However that day hadn't come, so I had settled on "Temporary Atheist".
That being said it was in a sort of mocking tone, that I clasped my hands over my air mattress, and began to pray to God. At first cheerily, but as the prayer went on, almost as if I had unconsciously realized my fatal error, my tone grew more serious. "God, if you are out there, if you exist at all. Send me a spirit, a ghost, I don't care. Send me something to meet, send me a messenger that there is life beyond this."
That turned out to be, maybe the worst mistake of my life. I would have happily gone on with my life as an Atheist, and while there are some comforts in knowing there is something more, such as not fearing death quite as much, I would have traded that knowledge away in an instant, to save me from what came that night.
It was around two in the morning. I lay, right after finishing watching my show, on my air mattress in the dark. Nervous, goosebumps on my arms, feeling cold even in the blankets. It was fun to ask for this during the day, but once the light went out, I was far more terrified than I was excited, to meet whomever God may send me. I couldn't sleep, wasn't even slightly tired.
As I lay there on my side trying to fall asleep, it seemed as though my fan had gone on mute, as the air mattress depressed behind me, and my messenger arrived. I was so scared, it was at this moment I realized what I may have asked for, after seeing all of the times that the hunters in the show seemed to know whether or not a spirit had a positive or negative feeling, I realized now how they could tell. This..Thing, I could feel it snaking it's arm around my stomach. my shirt folded, the skin under it icy, I could feel it like it were a person. A cold persons arm. It wrapped over my stomach and clutched the underside of me, for a moment I thought, "This is it, it's going to pull me away and nobody will ever see me again, what did I do!?"
As its grip tightened I became more and more terrified, I had time even to think about quickly hitting the light on the lamp, I had to aim, I thought about where the switch was before doing it, it had to be a perfect thrust, I needed to be fast. I was so fucking terrified.. I screamed as I reached for the light and flipped it on, simultaneously throwing myself from my bed, the closet door which had been closed was open all the way to the wall. I had closed it on purpose out of fear, and there it sat, even though the light was on the darkness inside scared me so much I couldn't move. I was afraid that if I ran to the door something would steal me away into it. So I sat there all night, staring, petrified at the open door and the darkness. This is how I know I never slept that night, I never dreamed up anything, there was no sleep paralysis, no spirit. This Thing. It had come for me, and left when I ran. This, I realized the next night, couldn't be thing that God sent, for what came for me the night after..If God sent it he is cruel.
The next night I was finally off grounding. I couldn't be more grateful to escape my room. I knew there was no way I was going to fall asleep again. Not after what happened last night. I was still spiked awake. I decided to bring my stuff into the living room to sleep there for the night. I stared down the hallway at my bedroom door, I had closed all the doors in the hallway, to be sure nothing could come out of one without alerting me first.
My door was at the end of the hall, to the left of it, around the corner, was the bathroom. Even recalling this is making my skin crawl, imagining it in my head makes me sick, I feel weak and terrified just thinking about it.. anyway.. The night dragged on after dinner at seven, my stepmom and dad had gone to their room and fallen asleep. 8pm, 9pm, 10pm, 11pm, 12pm, 1am. I sat there wide awake, staring. I had been watching TV, glancing back and forth between that and the hall for most of the night, but I wanted to at least lay down.
As I gazed down the hall, goosebumps on my skin, a cold tightening on the back of my neck, everything in the room seemed to dim. I sat up, just to be sure I wasn't losing it, I was still completely awake. I looked across the room at the nightlight plugged into the kitchen counter wall, and it had begun to dim. I was starting to get scared and nervous so I turned my phones screensaver on and laid back down, just in case the nightlight went off. That's when it happened. A dull droning hum seemed to fill the air, silencing the harder to notice sounds. I couldn't hear the fridge cooling, or the buzz of the light. It seemed like the noise was pure, my head felt like it was being rushed by blood, as if I were being held upside down, as I stared at my bedroom door.
Then it came. I heard the metallic scrape of a door opening, but it wasn't my door, it had to be the bathroom door. Now excruciatingly terrified I couldn't bring myself to look away from the corner where the bathroom was down the hall. I gripped my blanket over my shoulders, just to be sure I could still move and I wasn't having a nightmare or some kind of sleep paralysis which I had read about that day, it wasn't that. Everything was real, I was very awake, and I could move.
As I realized I wasn't hallucinating, or dreaming, a black mass gathered at the top of the wall. Seven feet up, what looks like an arm, with it's elbow stretched toward the hallway appeared. The idea of something that..Black. Clashing with the light of everything around it, I thought it was so dark I couldn't see, but I was wrong. as the arm stretched further I started to hear a screeching, which slowly rose to a screaming. Like people dying, the noise you might make when you have time to cry out before it's all over, all collapsing on each other. It got louder and louder, ear splitting, as this things head rounded the corner at the top of the wall, and a massive leg, the knee at 4 feet, splintered it's way into view.
I could see no details of it's face, just the jagged edges of it's body, and it's eyes, lit a dull red, like you might see when you close your eyes against the sun. It's chin seemed to stretch downward, as the screams grew louder, so shrill it made me feel like the temperature had dropped fifty degrees, my stomach twisted and turned like I could be sick at any moment, and simultaneously not even notice. It's head seemed to carry out further, as if it wanted to look at me closer, or it wanted to eat me.
The screams were so loud now it made me light headed with terror, piercing my soul, I felt anguish, I felt this wave of depression like I'd never felt in my life, this urge to die, this longing to get away from something.
Then it receded, almost as if in one motion, save for it's clawed, tendril like fingers, raking the wall as it returned from where it came.
My chest collapsed, my heart was beating so fast my head felt like a speaker, I could still hear a ringing in my ears, I felt so sick but I couldn't go to the bathroom, I sat up, back to my parents door, for the next 5 hours or so till the sun rose. Again, this confirmed that I never slept.
I poured myself into the internet that day trying to find some explanation, but without ever having been asleep, sleep paralysis wasn't it. Hallucinations, I thought maybe, but Auditory and Visual? No way. Especially considering nothing was wrong with me, I wasn't sick, I didn't have a history of this, and it didn't start up again for a long time.
This really happened to me, and it has changed me forever.
What's worse, is since then, especially in the time before I turned nineteen, I had crippling depression afterwards. I remember sleeping in my basement rooms in South Carolina and New Jersey after, just mocking him. Wishing he would come back so I didn't feel crazy. I named him Jagger, for the jagged edges I saw that night.
Around that time I had tried to kill myself a couple of times, maybe half-heartedly, maybe I was too afraid to do it, I don't know. Eventually I told my friends what had happened. And that's when it began again. Only a couple days afterwards two of my friends had come back to me telling me that ever since they heard the story, and saw me tear up thinking about it, they hadn't felt safe in their own rooms anymore. They slept with lights on at home, couldn't deal with silence, and shortly after they both told me that things had begun moving in their rooms at random times of the night. None of us ever spoke the name again, both of my friends, Jesse and Amere, suddenly developed depressive states. Maybe it was always there, and we never talked about whether or not it had something to do with Jagger, or whatever was going on at their homes.
All I know is this is real, it did happen, it has changed me completely from what I used to believe, and maybe I carried Jagger with me, maybe he never went away, but went inside me. Perhaps that's why it seemed almost instantly I went from being a happy, hopeful kid, to being a miserable, sad teenager, craving death, and hurting myself. I don't know. Honestly if I look back, there were times, like being dumped, or failing school, that made me upset, that made me depressed, but every time I considered hurting myself it seemed as though my mind went blank, and it just happened, and I always felt better after for no reason at all. Which scares the hell out of me to this day. I'm sorry to have even told you all this, and sincerely hope nothing comes of it for you.
However if this story is a curse, and this demon is carried in all who hear it, then I need to know. If nothing else, perhaps there is no way it could affect everyone, perhaps at least it'd be proof.

2023.06.10 19:15 Pretend_Walk_259 Single Christians in their 30s

First of all, I am also looking for friendships with anyone who is not a Christian but making this post to gage interest from those who follow Christ but are struggling to find a church home because there doesn't seem to be a place for them.
I'm looking for a group of Christian friends in their 30s who are single and wondering if anyone is interested on starting a weekly or bi-weekly group together. It can involve bible discussion but also just enjoying life together and wrestling with the good and bad things of daily living.
Let me know if anyone is interested. My background is very evangelical Christian but I've become increasingly disillusioned with the American church and am simply and earnestly seeking to live like Christ and find a group of people who genuinely care about one another and the rest of the world.
