2023.03.29 14:32 TTS202356 I used to fantasize about being sober....
Then 6 days ago I stumbled across this thread when looking for ways to help me moderate my drinking (yeah, right) and something finally clicked! One person stated that the only thing harder for them then quitting drinking was drinking and that is so me! I was so dam tired of being consumed by trying to moderate and rarely did it work anyway. I always told myself that it isn't so bad since all I drink is light beer but boy did I drink a LOT of it! I will be 56 soon and I have been drinking for the better part of 35 years. I just couldn't see me never drinking again so why bother. I knew I wouldn't make time for meetings and would probably drink before going to one anyway but..... this...YES!!
Sorry for rambling but bottom line - THANK YOU ALL!!!

2023.03.29 14:31 ThursianDreams I walked out.
Two days back, I went to work. Started my shift on Sunday night at 11pm, like every week this past year. Checking off my forklift, including a report of error codes that come up frequently. I've reported the same problems with it for months, and nothing has ever been done about it. All of the lifts where I worked are in horrible condition for various reasons, the least of which being that there is no maintenance team on site to work on them. The company does not provide distilled water for the batteries, so they get topped up with tap water. (anyone who works with this kind of equipment knows you just don't do that) They repeatedly had us move skids that exceeded the capacity by several hundred to more than a thousand pounds, and as such, the hydraulic lines would frequently burst. One guy on my shift actually had his mast fall off because the bolts sheared off. Long story short, safety is not a thing, though they'll talk like it is their highest priority. Then out the other side of their mouth, if you slow your pace to do something safely, they're breathing down your neck about why it's taking longer. They expected us to move as fast as possible, and would fire people over trivialities. Job security was a wild card.
Backtrack to Sunday night. I checked my lift, same as usual. Same error code reported. I'm doing an off-load, taking product off a trailer and placing it on the floor in the correct lanes. Driving full speed with a skid, with 400 lbs on it, and suddenly my lift begins veering left. The dash lights up with that same error code, and the steering is locked up. I can't slow down normally, by letting off the accelerator pedal, so I hit the break. Forklift stops dead, and the skid almost slides off the forks. If someone had been standing in the row next to my intended path, they'd have been crushed. I tagged the machine out, and took a moment to consider what happened, then concluded it's time to walk. I've spent several months making complaints and reporting problems, and nothing ever changed. So now they're going to be down one man on night shift because I refuse to put myself or others at risk by operating faulty equipment. They already pay less than industry standard, and we weren't even making a premium for night shift. Never once did I see a raise, having been there a year. Now I'm faced with having to report that place for unsafe work conditions, because they won't maintain what little equipment they do provide their employees. I could write a novel for all the problems with that company, organized into chapters for safety violations, poor management, and laughable pay rates. My co-workers have agreed with me, that if any place needed a union, it's them.
Don't deal with Speedy Transport. They give zero fucks about their employees.

2023.03.29 14:31 WeWannaKnow Can someone explain my taxes review and why it had to include my savings account interest?
Hello, I'll try my best to ask the question clearly with the info I have and limited knowledge I have of doing taxes.
- Young widow who received life insurance, which was the equivalent of a year's salary.
That money was put in my savings account and I use it to pay rent and pay a few debts. Everything left staying in the savings account for rent next year and in case something breaks in the apartment.
When I did my taxes, I entered the all the T4 I received.
- One for the Widow's pension.
- One for the annuity from RBC, coming from my husband's RRSP he had with the employer he had at the moment of death.
I declared everything, sent it over and waited.
Today I received a assessment letter from Revenu Quebec. Telling me they calculated the amounts or verified, and had included the following:
- A correction: I didnt add the interests from the savings account. Which was around 650$.
When I did my taxes with TurboTax I was never asked about the interest. Since it wasn't an investment but just interest from life insurance.
How did I miss it or how come it wasn't asked clearly? Or how is this considered an "investment"
Thanks for helping me understand.

2023.03.29 14:31 gamineaski 40q questionnaire
Section 1 How do you work? Why do people go to work? Are there any parameters that determine whether you can do work or not? What are they?
I tend to work in a stable amount of time and pace so I don't get overwhelmed. I always work visualizing the end so it's common for me to make dumb mistakes in the process because of my lack of attention to it, lol. People work because without it they don't have means to survive, it's not that deep.
How do you determine the quality of work? How do you determine the quality of a purchase? Do you pay any attention to it?
If it's useful for me in something, it means it worked. Of course it would be better if it had the utility it was created for in the first place, but just having an utility is enough already. It's basically the same with purchases. I don't think I pay much attention to it, tho.
There is a professional next to you. How do you know they are a professional? How do you evaluate their skill?
By their knowledge in the area and by the way activities are done. Professionals are more used to a certain activity than someone that isn't. I would evaluate their skill by the time they take to do something,
If you struggle to do something, how do you fix that? Do you know if your performance is better or worse than others?
I freak out at first because this isn't really common, but latter on I calm down and try to see what I'm doing wrong and fix it.
How do you measure the success of a job? What standard do you use? Do you pay attention to it? When should you deviate from this standard?
If it has an utility in the end, it was successful. I don't think too much about this kind of thing.
Section 2 What is a whole? Can you identify its parts? Are the parts equivalent to the whole?
A whole is the 100% of something, the total. The parts are identifiable, and alone, they are the total formed of even smaller parts and this continues forever lol. Even when you think you can divide anymore, yes you can. In the past, people thought the atoms were indivisible, but guess what. If something is divided in parts, it will never be seen like before, ever again. When you see the parts clearly and put them together, it's not the same as it was when you just knew the total.
What does "logical" mean? What is your understanding? Do you think that it correlates with the common view? How do you know you are being logical?
Logic is the grouping of the methods and principles used to separate a correct reasoning from a wrong reasoning. If you do that, you're being logical. What makes something correct? Consistency and factual data. I don't think mine relates much to the common view tho.
What is hierarchy? Give examples of hierarchies. Do you need to follow it? Why or why not? Explain how hierarchy is used in a system you are familiar with.
Classification of information based on the intensity of one common aspect all the elements have. For example, in biology, there is a hierarchy of structure complexity in the animal kingdom. I don't really care about most hierarchies, except social ones. I never understand them well and I hate when people aren't treated equally.
What is classification? How does classification work? Why is it needed and where is it applied? Give examples.
Classifications are groupings of elements with at least one aspect in common. Classifications are applied basically everywhere and it's really helpful to organize information and make learning easier.
Are your ideas consistent? How do you know they are consistent? How do you spot inconsistency in others' ideas?
I think so, since I consciously spend time analyzing them to see inconsistencies. Something is inconsistent if aspects contradict one another. If not, then the idea is consistent. In arguments, I tend to ask a lot of questions till the person contradicts and then I point it with another question.
Section 3 Can you press people? What methods do you use? How does it happen?
To be honest, not really. I lack drive and It's really difficult to do so. If I need someone to do something I'll try to persuade them. That's probably the closer I can get from "pushing" people. Only happens if the other person's actions can downgrade me as well. I don't really care if people wanna make their lifes difficult, but I draw the line at the moment someone wants to make my life difficult.
How do you get what you want? What do you do if you have to work to get what you want?
I try to convince the other person by persuasion and reasoning. Doing a contract (it doesn't need to be something formal, just a promise) to get what the person wants and getting what I want in return is also a good thing, since I value reciprocity.
How do you deal with opposition? What methods do you use to defend your interests?
I'm really cautious with what I defend and always stay observant and tense when someone disagrees with me. I'm not hostile, but I don't trust either. When I reason with someone, I start asking many questions till the person contradicts herself and then I show my arguments. People usually hate this method used on them but who cares, it's great.
When do you think it's ok to occupy someone's space? Do you recognize it?
Umm... Never? I don't like to do so with others as much as I hate when people invade my space.
Do others think you are a strong-willed person? Do you think you have a strong will?
I don't think I'm known for being strong willed neither see me this way. I can be really persistent if I want something (my brain doesn't lete rest but I don't think being strong willed is an iconic trait on me.
Section 4 How do you satisfy your physical senses? What examples can you give? What physical experiences are you drawn to?
Staying in silence while reading something I like or listening to chaotic music while walking around a room. If I'm overwhelmed, I just close my eyes and stay quiet for some seconds. I'm drawn to not much intense, routine experiences.
How do you find harmony with your environment? How do you build a harmonious environment? What happens if this harmony is disturbed?
I'm really dependent of structure in my environment as well. It's not the typical organization people are familiar with, but is something that works for me and is in my control.
What does comfort mean to you? How do you create it?
Feeling confort is feeling at ease. I create this feeling by engaging in what I like, it's not that deep.
How do you express yourself in your hobbies? How do you engage yourself with those things?
I use my hobbies to distract myself from reality. I don't think or notice emotional expression on any artwork I make, if it exists, if it exists, is unconscious. My favorite hobbies are researching and reading, but sometimes I do art to replicate something I saw and liked.
Tell us how you'd design any room, house or an office. Do you do it yourself, or trust someone else to do it? Why?
My aesthetic sense is not my forte, so help is greatly welcomed. But don't force anything, only give suggestions, you're just there to help me. Nothing more, nothing less.
Section 5 Is it acceptable to express emotions in public? Give examples of inappropriate expression of emotions.
It depends of what emotion it is and the context. I will use a funeral as an example: laughing is inappropriate but crying isn't. Everything depends of context.
How do you express your emotions? Can you tell how your expressions affect others in a positive or negative way?
I don't usually express my emotions it unless I'm in a favorable environment. It's difficult to tell if I influence people in this area.
Are you able to change your demeanor in order to interact with your environment in a more or less suitable way? How do you determine what is suitable?
It's difficult but I try to make an effort to at least not call other's attention. I simply copy how others are acting and try to go unnoticed.
In what situations do you feel others' feelings? Can you give examples of when you wanted to improve the mood of others?
It's difficult to feel what others are feeling in almost any situation if they don't show explicitly. My ways of comforting others are pretty clumsy, the most I can do is listen to the person while awkwardly patting them on the back. Wow
How do others' emotions affect you? How does your internal emotional state correlate or contrast with what you express?
I'm pretty influenced by it, since I tend to copy what other people express. I don't think my expressions match what I feel most of the time. My demonstration of feelings are really confusing to others and even myself, and because of that misinterpretations are common.
Section 6 How can you tell how much emotional space there is between yourself and others? How can you affect this space?
The point is, I can't really tell. My understanding of this is pretty weak. It's common for me to act really formal when and with who I shouldn't or act too "disrespectful" or intimate with who I shouldn't. I don't recognize this situations really well.
How do you determine how much you like or dislike someone else? How does this affect your relationships?
If they make me feel unsafe and uneasy, I don't like them. When this happens, I just distance myself from the person without any hostility, and this often confuses them.
How do you move from a distant relationship to a close one? What are the distinguishing characteristics of a close relationship?
Interacting with the person more often I guess? I think what differentiates close from distant relationships is the intimacy of the shared information.
How do you know that you are a moral person? Where do you draw your morality from? Do you believe others should share your beliefs on what's moral? Why?
I can't really tell. It comes from external principles, mostly. It would be cool since it would prevent a great amount of conflicts.
Someone you care about is acting distant to you. How do you know when this attitude is a reflection of your relationship?
At first I'll only think the person wants space and not really care about it. If it persists for too long I'll get worried but I'll need to prepare myself before asking if something is wrong. This kind of thing requires a lot of energy omgf. I'll be unable to do anything after that in the day.
Section 7 How can you tell someone has the potential to be a successful person? What qualities make a successful person and why?
By the enthusiasm they talk about a subject and the effort they put on the activities related to it. A successful person, in my view, is a person who is happy with his or her life and work, someone interested and hardworking in getting what they want and who knows a lot about the areas they like.
Where would you start when looking for a new hobby? How do you find new opportunities and how do you choose which would be best?
Hobbies can be found everywhere if you have a great eye, but I tend to find most of them by accident. I choose by what that would help me in and if it makes me at ease and happy.
How do you interpret the following statement: "Ideas don't need to be feasible in order to be worthwhile." Do you agree or disagree, and why?
I agree completely. Ideas are cool for itself, if it's put into practice it would be awesome, but ideas are already enough for themselves.
Describe your thought process when relating the following ideas: swimming, chicken, sciences. Do you think that others would draw the same or different connections?
Hmm.. swimming to save the chicken from the science experiment? Idk couldn't think of any other thing lmao. People's brains associate things differently so the chance of this happening is pretty low.
How would you summarize the qualities that are essential to who you are? What kind of potential in you has yet to be actualized and why?
I'm a really curious and knowledgeable girl that loves to learn, I'm also pretty controlling and organized with my routine (can't say the same about my room, tho)
Section 8 How do people change? Can you describe how various events change people? Can others see those changes?
It's a slow process, but it happen. People can change for a huge amount of reasons, such as knowledge of a new ideology, for example. The changes can be seen by others or not, it depends if the person will show it.
How do you feel and experience time? Can time be wasted? How?
I guess I have a great notion of it, somehow I'm rarely late to anything even if I don't put much attention to it (which is what usually happens). Like, I always come in the exact time even with my inattention to it, it's weird. To be honest, I do think time can be wasted in some situations, like trying to convince someone that won't be convinced.
Is there anything that cannot be described with words? What is it? If so, how can we understand what it is if language does not work?
Some things may be difficult to translate into words, but it isn't impossible. Everything can be explained in words if you spend enough time reflecting and elaborating the definition. If this process is not working, try to draw it, even if you aren't a professional artist. Just do it, it's helpful.
How do you anticipate events unfolding? How can you observe such unfoldments in your environment?
I don't pay much attention to it but I'm able to. It's something kinda obvious based on cause-consequence relationships.
In what situations is timing important? How do you know the time is right to act? How do you feel about waiting for the right moment?
Timing is capable of making a ridiculously huge difference, but analyzing this too much will cause more harm than good (and analysis paralysis). I'm structured in my life and it's common for me to plan how, when and where to act beforehand.
P.s. I'm diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder and my current typologies are IT(N) INTP so5 :)

2023.03.29 14:31 OnlyTheMadOnes81 How to Ship via USPS to PSA?
| Sending my first order to PSA after several years of collecting and research. Sending 34 high end vintage baseball cards (have collectors club) and raw value is about $1250. Super dialed in on what each should grade, and conservatively should get back $4k value. Question is, what is the best way to ship it to PSA? Priority Mail or PM Express with add on insurance and other services? Better to just do registered mail on top of it, but endure all the weird rules with briwn tape and what not? 2023.03.29 14:30 3pieceandsoda3 Can double walled Culverts go under building foundations?
| Forgive the MS Paint hack job, but I would like to put a building on the top left part of the property (45x35) and at the moment can't because during heavy rains the water flows through these channels pretty good. On the lower ditch I put two culverts in that go under the fence with concrete walls on the outside and riprap on the inside. Those are working great but now I have to do something about the top. The distance is 100' if I follow the natural flow of water as shown but that means the building would have to be placed over it. If I go down and connect to the other ditch it's like 175'. It's going to take at least a 12" culvert to handle the water drainage on the top left ditch. https://preview.redd.it/cw0e48bw8oqa1.jpg?width=1512&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=5f333c00eef3ae93071405f53669ad5f8e7cd01b submitted by 3pieceandsoda3 to DIY [link] [comments] |
2023.03.29 14:30 cuberandgamer Summary of March Plano and Dallas DART Meetings (DART Info Megadump)
Before I get started, If you haven't seen the map I made for the tier two and tier one bus network, I
highly recommend you take a look here I think the map I made is currently the highest quality image available of the tier one and tier two bus networks (DART PLEASE MAKE THIS AVAILABLE in high quality)
The main takeaway from this map is that DART is going to make some MASSIVE frequency improvements. A while ago, I made a post about the improvements DART is making and it really looks like we are starting to see some of those materialize.
With that out of the way, I asked staff a lot of questions, and here's all the info I've gathered:
SERVICE IMPROVEMENTS:
- Orange line off peak to Parker road is something they have considered in the past. If enough people push for it they may do it
- 883 east frequency boost likely coming fall semester
- 883 west and east combined ridership has seen numbers as high as 8,000 riders per day
- Later hours and weekend service GoLink has resulted in huge ridership gains
- Though keep in mind, GoLink is still low capacity. The two streetcar lines (mainly the m-line) see more ridership than all GoLink zones combined
- Although this may no longer be true with more weekend and late night service on the GoLink
- There are two tiers of bus system improvements
- Tier one, which increases frequency on select routes
- Cheaper to implement, will come within 5 years more likely than not
- Around 12 routes to see frequency improvements in tier one
- my tier one map is missing some super small and minor details (DART PLEASE MAKE THIS MAP AVAILABLE IN HIGH QUALITY)
- Tier two, which increases frequency system wide and on select routes
- Tier two feels too good to be true
- The frequent routes now run 15 minutes from 6 am to 10 pm 7 days a week
- The local coverage routes now run 30 minutes all day 6 am to 10 pm 7 days a week
- Many routes in the suburbs, south dallas, oak cliff, and pleasant grove see promotions that go beyond the system wide improvements
- Way more expensive to implement, but DART is going to make it work as more money becomes available and as they re-prioritize projects in their financial plan
- We can expect this to happen a little bit after 5 years, but its still up in the air. Staff seems very motivated to make tier two happen though
- TRE Sunday service is something DART staff wants, but Trinity Metro is more hesitant on
- When DART increases or adds weekend service, ridership on the weekdays improves
- When DART increases late night service, ridership during the day improves
- When DART improves frequency, ridership improves on the route to fill in some of the new capacity enabled by the frequency
NEW SERVICE:
- Plano City Managers happy with GoLink Service, but they want more fixed route service
- DART is primarily considering more east-west service in Plano
- Main route bring considered is a route that runs on spring creek from parker road station
- Have your own suggestions? dart.org/futureprojects
- This is apart of the area plans DART is making. For different sections of the service area, DART is making more focused plans and analysis for specific cities/neighborhoods to see what can be done to improve transit.
- New golink zone near the air port in Irving
- But I suspect we will see GoLink zones expanded, and new ones come up to fill in the few remaining gaps in service DART has
BUS INFRATSRUCTURE IMPROVEMENTS:
- Route 57 (westmoreland), sees ridership of over 3,500 per day, most popular route
- The route 57 is the closest route to getting enough ridership to get federal funding for a bus rapid transit conversion
- DART will do infrastructure upgrades on their highest ridership/frequency, most unreliable bus routes to improve speed and reliability
- Bus reliability will still improve significantly without the infrastructure improvements. Some routes see on time performance below 70%, while others are higher than 90%, but the general average is around 83-85% (where On time performance is defined a bus coming between 1 minute early and no more than 5 minutes late)
- Tweaks and adjustments are being made to improve the worst performers
- 85% is not too bad considering the reality that buses have to share the road with traffic
- but with infrastructure upgrades it could do better
- DART already has funding for bus corridor improvements in their financial plan
- If you notice your bus getting delayed at a particular intersection or road, let them know by emailing [[email protected]](mailto:[email protected]) they want to know where your bus needs the most help to get moving. They want to know where their infrastructure improvements need to go
- They want to do this on their most frequent routes. This includes routes slated to get frequency improvements in tier one and tier two
D2 UPDATE:
- DART does not need D2 to achieve 10 minute headways on the rail
- improvements to mocking bird, pearl, and west end junctions are needed though
- More details here
- If we want to go Beyond 10 minute headways, we will probably need D2
- While Tier Two focuses on achieving more 15 minute and 30 minute service, Nadine Lee's goal is to achieve 10 minute service on the frequent bus and light rail
- But this is really long term from what I can tell. I'm not expecting this to happen anytime soon
- I asked about increasing frequencies by adding north south lines, such as a Parker Road to Buckner line that bypasses downtown
- The problem is, whenever you have a train going from cityplace/uptown to deep ellum station, it blocks trains going to or from pearl for 3 minutes
- This means DART cannot operate this kind of service as of right now
STATE POLITICS GETTING IN THE WAY OF TRANSIT:
- Texas killed transit expansion across the state when they allowed sales tax to be used for property tax abatement or economic development
- This leaves no money for transit, since cities can only allocate 2% of their sales tax
- Any city with transit today has transit because they allocated their sales tax BEFORE they had any other way to spend it
- Transit didn't just stop expanding to new cities in DFW, but the whole state of Texas
- Attempts have been made to pass a transportation choices act
- This would allow Texas cities to add a new transit tax that is EXEMPT from the 2% sales tax limit on municipal governments
- It would be completely up to the municipality and its voters, its a choice.
- Did not go very far in the state legislature, but did have some support from democrats and republicans
- TxDot legally CANNOT spend a dime on public transportation
- any dollar TxDot gives to DART or other transit agencies is just money funneled through the Federal department of transportation
- This is money that could have only be spent on transit
- This limit is imposed on TxDot by the state constitution
- Needless to say, a lot needs to change at the state level
- Texas hamstrings public transportation
- Apparently, TxDot is starting to open up to public transportation more and more
- Though it seems like they have a long ways to go
- DART thinks that TxDot and the state won't be friendly to public transportation until traffic gets so bad they won't have another choice
- its frustrating because we should be investing in public transportation to PREVENT LA levels traffic, but it looks like our state leaders will sleep on the issue until we get that crippling traffic. Only then will finally (hopefully) take transit seriously
- Please vote
MISC:
- DART had to overcome a bus operator shortage to restore frequency and reliability to their service
- They were successful, roughly 7% of trips were being cancelled. Now its less than 1%
- HOWEVER, this came at a monumental effort, lots of money spent recruiting, increasing pay, and bonuses
- This is why DART has enough bus operators, but your local school district and other transit agencies do not. Other employers did not undergo this monumental recruiting effort
- It cost a lot of $$$
- As a result, one of the biggest barriers to the tier two bus network is expected to be hiring new bus operators.
- Its a tough job market right now (for the employers)
- Police pay is now competitive, so they are expecting to be able to fill their police shortage
- However it will still take a while, but they expect to be able to do it
- Police pay was not competitive before (I assume before October, somewhere around there)
- In a few months, DART will start the pilot program that connects homeless riding the system to resources so they don't use DART as a shelter
- Nonprofits will ride the trains to get homeless riders to shelters
- Route 23 is doing very well
- That's why its getting a frequency promotion (duh)
- Route 241 is still doing very well
- I think this should be a 15 minute all day route in tier two, but thats just me
- I don't know of any other 200 series route that gets over 2000 riders per day, but I also don't have access to the latest data
With that, since these posts tend to get a lot of attention, I wanted to let all of you know that I will be making my own recommendations for the city council elections coming up in May. I will be making recommendations for Plano, Richardson, and Dallas. My primary areas of concern will be how the candidates feel about land use, transit, and housing (in particular, land use and housing near transit) as well as walkability and really any issues relating to multimodal travel.

2023.03.29 14:30 MissSnob Going this Saturday April 1
Going to USH, got the express tickets for me and my partner. Worried about the crowd being spring break and all but these were the only days off we had that didnt need a leave at work plus his birthday. Its just now sinking in how crowded itll be that day.
I just want to experience USH it's his first time. SNW, not really planned we just want to immerse and see the area and eat at the cafe but not ride the mario kart/do minigames.
Want to know if this is a good plan for Saturday.
-Go in at 730am
-Use express to entry once into SNW as soon as it opens
-Line up for cafe reservations asap (paper? QR digital?) (can we select time slots?) Prefer around 2pm (considering after waterworld show at 1pm)
-Virtual line for the 2nd time entry reservation at SNW (non express) plan for later evening/night
-the rest of the times will be used one time express rides in USH
-studio tour in the after cafe
Thoughts? Would we be able to do most to all of USH stuff in a day? Side note, also have a band from my sister who already went incase we do want to fo SNW stuff

2023.03.29 14:29 FlailingatLife62 UPDATE on my trial of topical melatonin
About 2+ weeks ago I posted about trialling some topical melatonin products. I'm posting my experience to date:
UPDATE: I ordered the Topical Faded serum, a Melatonin Cream made by Supplement Spot, and SkinActives UV Repair cream. All contain varying amounts of melatonin, w/I think the Melatonin Cream containing the most. I would have tried the Gold Bond cream, but it contained coconut oil, which is a disaster on my face. I was going to try the LifeExtension Cosmesis Melatonin Peptide cream, which looked pretty good, but I went w/ the Supplement Spot brand because it was cheaper (at least on Amazon). I've now used all 3 at varying times (sometimes only 1 product, sometimes all 3, yeah that's crazy but oh well) for about 2 weeks now.
The Faded serum was a pale yellow creamy substance. Smelled like sulfur, but was otherwise nice, but I felt like it was lightening my skin all over instead of just my dark spots, so I felt like what's the point? The dark spots are still darker than the non-spot areas. Also, it did irritate me slightly. No clogging or breakouts though. A nice product, but I felt like it wasn't really helping my issue. To be fair, I didn't use it long enough to really know if it would work longterm. I may come back to it later.
The Melatonin Cream was unexpectedly very good. A pale beige cream in a tub, and I hate tubs - I prefer a squeeze tube. But there was no strong fragrance, only a very very faint slightly lavendetea tree type smell. Interesting because there is no fragrance on the ing list and I didn't see any ing that might smell like this. Also the label says fragrance free. No irritation or redness whatsoever, my skin looked plumped, softened, and SUPER CALM when using this. It's a light cream and sinks in almost immediately, leaving no greasy shine or tacky residue. I have acne and rosacea, w/ both redness and pustules, and oily/combo skin that is super finicky and clog prone, so it's really hard for me to find a moisturizer that works but doesn't break me out or turn me red. This stuff had a fairly short and simple ing list, the first 4 ings being water, safflower seed oil, aloe vera gel, and Sepigel 305. It also had some other plant oils - hemp seed oil, evening primrose oil, apricot kernel oil, and grapeseed oil. Melatonin was the 5th ing. I was shocked this stuff worked so well, because usually my skin hates most oils. BUt my skin looked super plumped and calm. My skin tone even looked more even - maybe just because it was very well moisturized and calmed. Any spots (sebaceous hyperplasia and rosacea pustules) I had looked smaller and less irritated. No clogging. NO breakouts. This cream is marketed for promoting restful sleep, not for anything else. I used it at night at first, but liked it so much I am using it during the day. Have not noticed getting sleepy except one day when I slathered it pretty much everywhere - face, body, in the AM. Overall, awesome moisturizer, that i feel can be used AM and PM, as long as you don't use all over in the AM, and very calming and moisturizing w/o clogging or greasiness/oiliness.
SkinActives UV Repair cream is a light golden brown cream in a small tub, again, not a fan of tubs. Had a fair amt of darker brown flecks and particles. Vaguely sulfury smell as well. Emailed the company, asking if the particles were normal. Answer was yes. So I tried it. It does leave a film or residue, plus visible particles, and tends to pill under makeup, so it's not really feasible for me to use this in the AM. NOt as moisturizing as the Supplement Spot Melatonin cream, but this is marketed as a UV Repair cream, so OK. Skin did not feel as calmed or plumped as w/ the Melatonin Cream, and not as calming. I think this may be a tx cream where longer term use is needed to judge its effectiveness.
Overall, I am extremely impressed by at least one melatonin product in this line up and am interested in trying more melatonin products. Maybe I'll try the LifeExtension Cosmesis one next, but the Supplement Spot one is a keeper.

2023.03.29 14:29 Old_Heart_7780 “The state also agreed to stop referring to Kline's alleged victims as juveniles.”
Why? I tried to find where this has ever happened in a pending CSAM trial. Nothing. Makes me wonder what is the purpose of even making this statement. His victims were juveniles. I didn’t need to know the definition of “juvenile” but I looked it up anyways. Basically anyone between 12 and under 18 years old. Seems like juvenile would define all of his victims. So why would the state of Indiana agree to stop referring to his victims as juveniles? They were children.
In the same news articles I read repeated comments from the MS couple and their opinions on this case. That’s fine for these local news agencies to be quoting this couple who have played a large part in this past year’s coverage and the investigation itself. From their “finding” this guys post arrest interrogation transcript— to their latest comments on the status of this guys CSAM case. Why does Fox 59 choose to quote these two people who make their living off this case?
My understanding of news organizations is the fact that they check everything they publish— before they publish. If they are going to be quoting the MS couple on all the legal formalities going on with juniors defense— perhaps they checked with his attorney, or the prosecutors office to get an off the record affirmation. Or maybe the “state”. Not sure where the line about the state comes from:
“The state also agreed to stop referring to Kline's alleged victims as juveniles.”
I would have to assume it comes from juniors defense attorney. I don’t know from reading this line where it came from. Did the news agency that reported on it get a direct quote from the state? Did it come from Kevin Greenlee and his wife Aine Caine, who both are quoted extensively in the story where I found this bit of news? Interesting someone knows Junior has some type of agreement with the state of Indiana, but according to the MS couple they can’t see where there is any agreement. Is that line about the state agreeing not to call junior’s “alleged victims” not an agreement??
Such bull shit in my opinion. How come Fox 59 doesn’t get a statement from the “State”? I always thought that’s how journalism and news organizations work. Don’t get me wrong I do suspect the MS couple know what they are talking about. In fact everything I read about these two people makes me wonder if they work for the state of Indiana. They seem to know more than a local news agency called Fox 59 and some of the other myriad of local news agencies reporting the same thing.
Makes you wonder what the hell is up in Indiana. I worked for the state of Colorado for many years. My job put me in the schools around the state. We didn’t call the people in the schools juveniles— although they were juveniles. We called them kids. Abby and Libby were kids. Junior was exploiting, harassing, manipulating and abusing kids online. In fact he even admitted to it. I know because I read some of his admissions. I don’t need the MS couple to tell me that. I don’t even need Fox 59 to tell me that’s what he was doing. It doesn’t take a degree is nuclear physics to know the state of Indiana has some type of agreement with this guy— if there’s any truth to the statement I have in the title to my post.
Some crazy shit going on in Indiana. Forgive me if I have anything wrong in this post— I’m still working on my first cup of coffee.

CENTENNIAL, Colo. (January 3, 2022) – NioCorp Developments Ltd. (“NioCorp” or the “Company“) (TSX: NB; OTCQX: NIOBF) is pleased to announce positive results from its ongoing metallurgical work regarding the process to extract rare earth elements from ore samples sourced at its Elk Creek Project (the “Project”). Salt Lake City-based L3 Process Development (“L3”) has been conducting small-scale testing for NioCorp on rare earth recovery and flowsheet improvement and is also building an integrated demonstration plant at its facility in the province of Quebec. To date, L3 has completed several dozen individual tests using portions of a three-tonne representative sample of ore collected from the Elk Creek Project drill core inventory. Recent efforts by L3 have focused on potential rare earths recovery, including the extraction of rare earth values from the high acidity streams characteristic of those found in the existing Elk Creek niobium/scandium/titanium process flowsheet. In a recent development, L3 has demonstrated that Scandium can be effectively extracted and separated from the rare earth elements in solution using a phosphate-based extractant. With additional work, this phosphate-based recovery process could be shown capable of replacing the phosphoric acid-based extraction process that is part of the current Project design. L3 has further demonstrated that the rare earth elements (lanthanum through lutetium, including the magnetic rare earths neodymium, praseodymium, dysprosium, and terbium) can be selectively extracted and separated from the leach solution using an amide-based extractant. Late January a portion of the Niocorp Team was in Europe SEARCH- Ford, Volkswagen mulling global self-driving partnership (detroitnews.com) Feb, 2, 2022~ Jim mention in a response to a board member that they were "In talks with both American & European OEMS"?~ From AO's/IHUB response from Jim on Saturday, 02/05/22 12:50:37 AM: "If NioCorp elects to proceed with the production of rare earth elements (REEs) as a byproduct of our planned Niobium, Scandium, and Titanium products at the Elk Creek Project, there are several factors that are likely to provide important insulation to market disruptions such as the world experienced when China aggressively increased its REE exports following the WTO ruling in 2015 against China’s then-system of REE export tariffs and quotas. First of all, commodity price volatility is particularly difficult for producers that rely primarily on the production of one commodity, or set of commodities in the case of REEs, for the bulk of its revenue. This was certainly the case for the Mountain Pass facility, which only produced REE products. In sharp contrast, NioCorp’s production of REEs would be as part of a larger product suite of Niobium, Scandium, Titanium. Such diversity of production provides a high degree of flexibility when any one product suite experiences price volatility. Moreover, any REEs that we produce would be byproducts of our primary target products, and the cost of mining REEs and getting them into solution (in preparation for separation into individual REE oxides) would be considered sunk costs. Also important in this regard is the fact that there are many more manufacturers today that are actively seeking non-Chinese sources of REE materials. In years past, consumers of REEs made purchase decisions largely based on price. Today’s markets are very different. Governments around the world – particularly in the European Union – are developing REE sourcing policies that will require manufacturers to use greater amounts of non-Chinese REEs. European automotive manufacturers in particular are now more sensitive to the geographic sourcing of the REEs they need. We know this because we are in direct discussions now with companies in that industry in both North America and Europe. A third factor is the very large increases in forecast demand for REEs, particularly the magnetics, because of their growing use in environmentally preferred technologies such as electrified transportation, high-efficiency motors and pumps, home appliances, power tools, robotics, and many other industries. It is clear to all industry players that the world is going to need more REEs than China alone can produce and export – a lot more. That is why manufacturers of products that require REEs are aggressively seeking new sources of supply, particularly in Western countries. Finally, China’s high-level REE industrial strategies have evolved over the past decade or so. China is less focused on exporting its separated REE oxides and is much more focused on exporting OEM products that utilize those REE materials. This industrial policy is very logical: by maintaining all stages of the REE value chain in China – REE mining, REE oxide separation, REE metal production, REE magnetic alloy production, REE magnet production, and all of the follow-on steps between the manufacture of REE magnets and the manufacture of OEM products that use those magnets, such as EVs – China is able to leverage its REE industry to provide a much larger number of jobs across this value chain for its citizens. This is also why it is not surprising to see China actively seeking to acquire REE mineral properties around the world today. In my view, for these and other reasons NioCorp is in an excellent competitive position to do very well if we make the final decision to add magnetic REE oxides to our product portfolio. I hope this information is helpful. NIOCORP WILL PRODUCE NIOBIUM, TITANIUM & SCANDIUM IN ADDITION TO VIABLE RARE EARTHS T.B.D. VIA ONGONG DEMONSTRATION OPERATIONS...**** CENTENNIAL, Colo. (May 18, 2022) – An updated feasibility study of NioCorp Developments Ltd.’s (“NioCorp” or the “Company”) (TSX: NB; OTCQX: NIOBF) Elk Creek Project (the “Project”) shows that the Project is the second-largest indicated-or-better rare earth resource in the U.S., second only to MP Materials’ Mountain Pass rare earth deposit. The Company has completed an updated feasibility study (the “2022 Feasibility Study”) in collaboration with Understood Mineral Resources Ltd., Optimize Group Inc., and Dahrouge Geological Consulting Ltd. Rare earth elements (“REEs”) were evaluated as a potential by-product to the mining of niobium, titanium, and scandium; thus the estimated values of the REEs are reported using the previously determined diluted Net Smelter Return (“NSR”) as derived from the Nb2O5, TiO2, and scandium Mineral Resources. According to the 2022 Feasibility Study, the Elk Creek Project contains an estimated 632.9 kilotonnes (“kt”) of contained total rare earth oxides (“TREO”) in the indicated mineral resource category.[1] According to U.S. Geological Survey data,[2] this places the Elk Creek Mineral Resource behind MP Materials’ Mountain Pass deposit in the U.S. but ahead of all other current rare earth projects in terms of contained TREO from a NI 43-101 rare earth resource of indicated or higher classification. According to the 2022 Feasibility Study, in addition to relatively high grades of niobium, scandium, and titanium, the Elk Creek Mineral Resource contains various amounts of all REEs. There is potential for NioCorp’s REEs to be mined, crushed, and placed into solution as part of the process NioCorp plans to use to produce its primary niobium, scandium, and titanium products once Project financing is secured. Depending upon the outcome of metallurgical testing on REE recovery rates from Elk Creek ore, now being conducted at a demonstration plant in Quebec, and whether necessary Project financing is secured, NioCorp could produce separated rare earths as a byproduct, placing it at a competitive advantage vis-à-vis other rare earth projects. A new technical report on the Elk Creek Project summarizing the results of the 2022 Feasibility Study will be prepared by Dahrouge Geological Consulting Ltd. and Optimize Group Inc. in accordance with NI 43-101. The technical report will include details regarding the updated Mineral Resource and Mineral Reserve estimates presented herein, which are derived from the 2022 Feasibility Study, and will be filed on SEDAR (www.sedar.com) within 45 days of this news release. Please see Jim's responses to questions posed for comment-3/17/2022.~A) Could you comment on what the production of higher purity Niobium & Titanium could be utilized for once realized? " If the higher purity niobium and titanium intermediates that L3 was able to produce at bench-scale are replicated and proven at demonstration scale, this would put us in a position to more easily move to other products beyond those outlined in our 2019 Feasibility Study. Niobium oxide for use in Li-Ion batteries is one possible example, although the production of that product would require additional processing steps beyond the higher-purity niobium intermediate that we discussed in last week’s news release. The company is not yet in a position to make a determination on whether or not, and when, to possibly expand our Niobium product offering. Higher grade TiO2 could expose us to additional markets where higher margins could be obtained. But, again, we are not in a position to speak to those possibilities in any detail yet. " ~ B) Niocorp’s preferred separation method is SX. Are these higher purity processes part of an improved SX process or “something else”? " No, the processes we recently discussed occur in the earlier stages of the flowsheet, prior to any SX processing. We look forward to unveiling those details once these processes are verified at the demonstration plant level and once all associated work needed to complete an updated Feasibility Study is completed. CENTENNIAL, Colo. (June 6, 2022) – Metallurgical testing being conducted now by NioCorp Developments Ltd. (“NioCorp” or the “Company“) (TSX: NB; OTCQX: NIOBF) in Quebec, Canada, is intended to quantify the Company’s ability to extract rare earth elements (“REEs”) from Elk Creek ore. It is also aimed at testing a carbonation process that can be used to recycle key reagents used in the removal of calcium and magnesium carbonates from the Elk Creek ore ahead of operations that are expected to extract and recover niobium, scandium, titanium, and rare earths once project financing is secured. If proven successful at the demonstration plant scale, these process improvements have the potential to reduce projected Project operating costs (“OPEX”) and capital expenditures (“CAPEX”) as compared to estimates in the Project’s May 2022 feasibility study (reported here), as well as to lower the Project’s anticipated production of greenhouse gas (“GHG”) emissions as compared to projections in the May 2022 feasibility study. These process improvements also could allow the Company to produce calcium and magnesium materials at purity levels that may be sold as commercial products; however, further analysis and testing is required to determine whether there are reasonable prospects for economic extraction for calcium and magnesium before they could be included in the Elk Creek Mineral Resource. These include both production tax credits that would apply to all the critical minerals that we intend to produce, additional funding for the DPA Title III program aimed at supporting critical minerals production, and additional lending authority for the Title XVII program at DOE. If these provisions survive the amendment processes in the Senate and House, the Byrd Rule in the Senate, and can be passed by both Houses of Congress and is signed into law, it could have multiple positive impacts to the Project. 2023.03.29 14:27 seaemde Is it me? What am I missing??
Today has been a day. We recently moved into a new neighborhood with stricter bylaws that a regular neighborhood- such as no permanent clothlines, no chain link fences, no parking in street or yards, no RVs or sheds. All things we also desire Not an issue. Today, our next door neighbor had lawn service in. He also is new (Aug22). We bought our home from an elderly gentleman who had kinda let things go and in the last two months we have replaced, tore out, cleaned etc. both inside and out. So the lawn service guys mowed or scalped the lawn including not a swipe down our line but to our sidewalk beside the house. Like 15-20 ft into our yard. I can get a swipe and we will talk with our neighbor as we like to mow ourselves and at a certain height for the type of grass we have. There is no way the landscapers could have made that much of an error. Plus the pins are very well seen as PVC pipe is over them and stick up about a foot. So smh, i chalk it up to maybe neighbor trying to be friendly and helpful. But as i reflect, he knows we do our own work, elderly man no longer lives here and why in the world wouldn’t you ask before mowing your neighbors entire side yard??
Now onto dogs. Another neighbor about 3 houses up has been checking on a snowbirds home and instead of walking down the street with his dog to the house, he lets dog off leash and runs through everyone’s back yard. Like my back yard is privately mine. I did ask him to please not do so as I have 3 dogs who have been attacked and ambushed and are always in defensive mode. All the while this conversation is occurring his dog is literally tearing up Snow birds grass digging for moles And now just this evening , we had two ladies and a dog cross the street at the intersection directly in front or our house and let dog with retractable leash( you don’t want me to go there) come into the middle of my yard. Not just a foot or so inside but 1/2 way to my front door. All the while dog is pulling at the retractable leash to get closer and lady ( on her phone) is teetering on edge of road to not step foot into my yard!!??!! I have this all on camera. Husband and I were in back yard and heard all sorts of barking and I looked back through camera feed to see this.
So pesticide signs are out and will stay out. Any other advise? I am an extreme introvert and have gone through trauma with my daughter about 8 yrs ago. i paid for this property. Its not a public park, it is private property. What don’t I understand?

2023.03.29 14:27 KWswaps Berseo a sharing marketplace for PEVs
Hi my name is Declan. I am the founder of
Berseo, a sharing marketplace for PEVs. We are building this marketplace for travelers and PEV enthusiasts.
We are making it easy for PEV enthusiasts to try different PEV models to see which ones they like before they make a purchase. Also with Berseo travelers now have the option to borrow a PEV from a local host instead of renting a car or using a slow on street scooter.
I would love to hear the community’s feedback on this. Also we have insurance from CNA so anyone hosting a PEV on our platform is covered in any cases of damage or theft. I will be available all day today to answer any questions about Berseo or electric vehicles in general.

2023.03.29 14:26 EugeneRider Women don't care about your struggles so we achieve success by any means necessary?
Women hang around the finish line and fuck the winners.
They apparently don't care about your struggles.
What do they look for? Success indicators—house, car, high income, good style, etc.
If that's the case, why don't we all opt for success by any means necessary?
I think I'm a moral person, I'd like to achieve success by moral means.
But I legit feel like women's sexual selection is incentivizing bad & unethical behaviors.
If the goal is the only thing they care about, honestly there isn't much holding us back other than the law.
We might as well all become Machiavellians and use whatever effective means possible. Succeed by being moral, good. You can also succeed by being unethical.
Why are we even giving power to these idiots who can't even think clearly, straight and logically? Why are we letting them to sexual-select?
Man I don't understand.

2023.03.29 14:26 Thundermittens_ Are you a sensitive bean? Hey, that's okay.
Sorry that this will be long and somewhat of an essay. I'm wordy :[
Anyway, let's talk about skin...for a moment.
“If you want to post things on the internet, you have to be thick-skinned.”
A line I see more than often, especially lately, paraphrased in discussions regarding the morals of unsolicited concrit, which is a debate I don't intend to start again. I feel like we all spent way too long in that crossfire.
But the purpose of this thick skin everyone keeps talking about is to protect you. There's bullets hurdling towards you as you navigate the jungle of fanfic; criticism, strong opinions, pro-shippers and anti-shippers, prompt challenges, fan wars, popularity contests. There are fanfic writers who have a set of outright steel armor for protection. No opinion can faze them, no lack of kudos, no amount of vitriol or fluctuation in popularity. They see hate comments and use them as cannon fodder to hurl back at the opponents. They laugh at snide reviews. The one single kudo on their 50k fic is like a bucket of gold, and radio silence will not curb their creativity. They write and write and then write some more. They're a damn machine, having reached the ultimate endgame.
Congratulations, you all have my admiration.
This post is directed at the rest, the ones stuck somewhere in the middle, or down in the trenches. The unsure and insecure ones, people with ailing mental health, or poor self esteem, perhaps an unhealthy dependency on interaction. You took the step. You posted your writing on the internet. You shared it, for the sheer joy of sharing, or whatever reason you may have. Now it's...out there. Scary.
And your skin might not be thick enough.
Actually, it's paper-thin, vulnerable to sunlight, temperature changes, stormy weather. What do you do then?
As fun as fanfic is, sometimes you wonder if it's for you at all, when it tends to affect you...too much, and in possibly debilitating ways. Unfiltered words etch into your mind easily, you dwell on bitter encounters, overanalyze stats, compare yourself to everyone and their mom. It can kill your spirits, ruin your day, send you to bed in a crying mess. It hurts. But next time, since you're a little more seasoned than before, maybe you'll shed one less tear.
You don't have to just suck it up, all the time. It's okay to vent – on this platform, for example. There's a lot of sympathy to be found here. Sure, there's the occasional grump and “what's the point of complaining”, “just ignore it”, “so tired of these posts". But what enters must sometimes exit. Venting is much better than releasing the frustration all over your readers, or holding it hostage until it consumes you. People learn, skin grows thicker, but not instantly. It takes time.
If you currently feel disheartened beyond repair and wonder if you should just trash your writing and quit, this is a sign not to. You write for a number of reasons, but usually...fun. Fun! Escapism, healing, self-indulgence, relaxation, love letters to the movies/books/video games/tv-shows/groups/people you so adore, because you have something to say. But you're not a professional author (well, some are) and didn't receive a crash course in how to separate yourself from your writer persona. Sometimes, you and your fic are so tightly entwined that it's unclear where one of you starts and the other one ends.
So, sometimes you take things personally – too personally.
You might feel unusually proud of that specific scene, wording, or characterization, and then someone criticizes precisely that. One day, after a period of drought, the glorious inbox ( 1 ) suddenly awaits you. We all love inbox ( 1 ). Maybe you'll even have the chance to encounter the rarer inbox (1 + X ) if you're lucky. Comments are a luxury, tiny treasures to re-read and cherish. You open sesame, and feel that pre-comment buzz. Your eyes flit across the screen, skimming down the wall of text. Reader has a lot to say. A long list of things. Things to...
...improve on. Hardly any positives.
Well, reader...read it at least. Readers will read and react. Reader thought they helped you out. On the contrary, you now feel crushed. There's some more pressure on your back, some more doubts, and you didn't receive the boost you were hoping for, to keep going. You can delete, ignore. But sometimes there's nothing simple about ignoring.
Unfortunately, such is the nature of an exchange between two total strangers. You never know what's coming.
Elsewhere, we have another scenario. Writers who would pay a good buck for any type of comment, good or bad. There's not even inbox ( 1 ). It's inbox ( 0 ) for all eternity, so long that you start to hate that cursed number and wishing it was anything but oval. Maybe you're following Reddit discussions about interaction and feel immense sadness because you receive so little. You wonder if your writing is even worth posting, when no one seems to care. Validation can be an invaluable currency, as much as it can become an obsession. It can motivate, inspire, make you downright euphoric, it can be the sweetest of muses.
When it's nowhere to be found, you have to fully internalize that the sentiment "write for yourself" applies to you.
There is no one else to write for.
You might be envious of writers who receive interaction in abundance, and it's not even about the thirst for praise, just the sheer fact that someone is reacting. Maybe you begin to feel like there's no point to exist in this space, when it all amounts to null and void.
There is.
Once your fic is finished, or even if it ends half-way, or if it's a big old heap of fragmented thoughts, it's done. You post it in your little corner of the internet, a thing of pride and accomplishment. A thing that can be experienced, analyzed, so full of life that you can almost pick it up and hold it in your hand. The future of said fic is unknown. But once you feel giddy and like you'll probably write another thing, because this was nice, you're on the right track. Then, out of nowhere, a reader stumbles into your little corner on their voyage through cyberspace. They make wide eyes at your creation, and maybe it's the perfect fic, for the perfect reader.
If posting doesn't serve you right, and just becomes a major source of stress and anxiety, then absolutely retreat for a while. Focus on other, uplifting things. That's an act of self-care. But if you're wondering if you have to wait to post until you've developed the perfect psyche to deal with whatever comes your way – no. No! You might catch a rash, suffer third degree burns, have the skin flayed off your bones. But it grows back, you can heal. I want you to keep on writing during that process, as long as you want to, now, now, now and always.
