2023.06.10 04:33 OkFlatworm5033 An Ohio Jane Doe from 1944 has no NAMUS or Doe Network profile.

From the East Liverpool Historical Society:
"The body of a nude young woman was discovered along State St. in the East End in 1944, and neither she nor her slayer were ever identified.
An 18-year-old River Rd. youth found the corpse June 5 around 7:30 am., wrapped in two green blankets and unclothed except for a torn pink slip around her shoulders.
Sam Winters, a high school football player, was on his way home from Crucible Steel Co, at Midland where he worked overnight. He had left a bus at Mulberry St and was walking along State St. when he noticed a pair of bare feet extending from blankets.
He ran to a nearby site and telephoned police.
Apparently strangled, the victim lay on her back in a cluster of weeds about eight feet from the roadway. The blankets were secured to the body with a seemingly little-used clothesline.
The woman was between 25 and 30, with dark brown hair and brown eyes, about 5 foot 6 and weighing around 125 pounds.
County Coroner Arnold Devon reported no marks on the body other than a discoloration on the left shoulder at the base of the neck The body was still warm when found, and Devon estimated the time of death around 5 a.m.
Sheriff George Hayes made plaster casts of tire tracks in the cinder road for possible future identification of the auto used to transport the body. All city police were called to duty in a hunt for clues and visits to restaurants and taverns to locate someone who would recognize the victim.
The following day - Sunday -- an East End man hunting for canvas to build his children a play tent, rummaged through trash at Columbian Park where a carnival had played the previous week. He came across a torn dress and another dress and skirt with rips.
It was discovered that the dead woman resembled one of the five girls in a picture of the Sheesley Carnival's "Gay New Yorkers revue. Sheriff Hayes traveled to Lima where the carnival was playing, but telegramed city police, "Girl in question was on show last night."
Meanwhile, the body was interred at Spring Grove Cemetery after a brief service at the Dawson Funeral Home where some 1,500 viewed the victim out of curiousity or in hopes of recognizing her.
Later the funeral home officials barred anyone from visitation other than out-of-towners sent by police.
Dozens of calls were received from relatives seeking a missing relative or friend, and from law agencies asking a description.
Her fingerprints were sent to the FBI at Washington in hopes that she made have worked in a war industry and identity could be made. But Director J. Edgar Hoover notified Police Chief Hugh McDermott there was no match.
More clues turned up. A St. George St. man putting away his car at 4:10 a.m. saw a driver switch off the lights of his auto as he pulled onto State St. at the railroad underpass. He was positive the license was not a blue and white Ohio tag.
OTHER LEADS died out. A woman who had quarreled with her husband in a hotel at midweek and disappeared from the show was found at her home in North Carolina.
Benwood, W. Va., police were looking for a missing woman with a leg scar. A Shadyside Ave. girl who had not been seen since Friday night in a Wellsville tavern did not match the body description of "Miss X.
Cincinnati police thought she may be a missing 20-year-old girl, but she had false teeth and the slain woman's were natural.
Today, the only known traces of the victim exist within a Spring Grove Cemetery plot, on police and funeral home records and in yellowing newspaper accounts."
WARNING:POST MORTEM PHOTOS IN THE FOLLOWING LINK: http://www.eastliverpoolhistoricalsociety.org/cargrl.htm
Can someone contact the local coroner's office or Sheriff and ask them to put this woman into NAMUS? I did some digging but couldn't find any contact info that was concrete and for sure, only stuff that was outdated. There are entries on NAMUS and the DN much older than this case, and just because this woman has gone unidentified for 79 years doesn't mean she doesn't deserve to have her name back.

2023.06.10 03:52 PapercutStains Childhood friend went to prison

Hi reddit. I made a throwaway for this post and I hope that’s okay, but I don’t want anyone to recognize me. I will be vague about genders in this post, I’m sorry if that bugs anyone.
I recently discovered that someone who has been a long-time friend is now in prison. They’ve been there for 2 months and I didn’t know about it until I was sent an article. They were a high school teacher, and their charges include sexual assault of several students and child porn - photos of said students.
I am at a complete loss. In retrospect I can see things that were “off”. They were always very close to their students. But I truly never expected something like this. I don’t know how to cope. I don’t know what to do. I feel like over our lives together I have always defended this person and had their back. And suddenly there’s this big thing that has no defense. I’ve talked to their family. They did do what they’re accused of, they’ve confessed it after being caught. They might spend the rest of their life in jail, but we don’t know the sentencing yet.
I can’t forgive this. I can’t move on from it. But the thought of them sitting in prison lonely and afraid still makes me emotional. I know they deserve it for what they’ve done. But this whole thing is so difficult and I don’t want it to be real. I don’t even really know what I’m hoping to get out of posting this. I just don’t want to sit alone in my thoughts.

2023.06.10 03:47 Yourethekindestyo Episode Summaries for the First 4 Episodes of Our Degrassi Continuation Series

I have something exciting to share that my team and I have been working on for the last few months! We are writing and producing our own continuation of Degrassi, picking up the following school year after Next Class. I can’t give details yet on how the series will look or when it will become available, but I can tell you the characters who will be appearing as well as descriptions of the first 4 episodes.
The characters will unfortunately not be played by the same actors, however we have made some creative decisions for the look of the show that I think everyone will be excited about. The new and returning characters are as follows:
SENIORS: Frankie, Esme, Hunter, Vijay, Baaz, Shay, Rasha, Saad, Lola, and Yael.
FRESHMEN: Sam, Monica (aka Money), Zeze (aka Z), Benji, Marcus, and Jack Simpson
EPISODE DESCRIPTIONS:
“Running Up That Hill: Parts 1 and 2”: Esme returns to Degrassi and faces her day in the court of public opinion. When Hunter, Baaz, Vijay, and Yael’s murder mystery podcast needs a new topic they decide on the mysterious death of Esme’s mom. Meanwhile, Lola and Saad have fallen in love following an inseparable summer together. But as she prepares to run against Baaz for student council president she quickly realizes he is willing to do anything to secure a victory. Also, incoming freshman Sam, Monica, Benji, and Marcus rush to complete their summer bucket list before high school officially begins.
“TBD”: Shay, Lola, and Frankie each face varying repercussions when their photos from their Degrassi Nudes days resurface online. Meanwhile, Hunter is surprised to see a new face in group therapy… Esme. Also, after Baaz is disqualified from the election he is furious that he was silenced for what he believes was speaking the truth and decides to take to the podcast to vent… without his co-hosts’ approval.
“TBD”: With the class presidency secured Lola considered a future in politics and is excited to discuss her plans with her dad. But a knock at the door will have her thinking more about her past. Meanwhile, Saad worries about Abra being friends with Sam and Monica. Also, Jack doesn’t want anyone to know that Principal Simpson is his dad.

2023.06.10 03:32 Effective-Diver5534 The Portuguese Ghost Cobra

Hey guys, Sertorius here again. Haven't been active here much for the reasons I've explained in my last thread but also due to lack of opportunity.
I've thought I should at least make a thread about this sighting of a cryptid in Portugal, since I am the only person able to source it and it might get lost to time if something happens to me.
Then...Here it goes.
In the 1990s, possibly 93/94/95, a group of children walked through their usual path to school, in the city of Barcelos, North of Portugal, close by to the Cavado River, the main river crossing the region. In a then bushy area of the street side, very close to the river margin, there was some maintenance by the City hall workers going on, as all 3 kids saw what the main witness, let's call her Kay, described as the following;"a snake, like a cobra [in Portuguese the word for snake IS cobra, which is the etymology of the group name, but I can assure you this is not a mistranslation as I am a native speaker and the group of snakes known as cobras has a specific name] with transparent skin, was slithering by right in front of us going in the direction of the bushes. I was able to see its insides as if it had no skin. The hood was like that of a cobra"
I questioned Kay about a few details - round or triangle face shape? She can't remember. Did the snake keep the hood flared as it move? Yes. Size? Due to size difference from children to adults, hard to say, but definitely not big for an usual snake.
I also presented Kay, my witness, with several images, in hopes of identifying the possible misidentification or an exotic escaped pet. (BTW before I keep writing further I'd like to make one point clear; despite being children at the time, they did talk to the workers nearby to warn them of the snake, as one would probably do, and Kay herself did tell this story immediately to her mother, who still remembers it to this day. I have zero reasons to not believe Kay's testimony, she has nothing to gain by lying, she in fact did not mention this on her own except when prodded by me as I mentioned my interest in cryptozoology and explained what the field is about. Kay is also someone I personally know for some time, and I can guarantee she is the most honest person I've ever met. She *saw* something that day and she has fantastic visual memory. Therefore, although I think we all should be somewhat sceptical with any eye witness, I wanted to add this caveat as to why I so firmly believe her)
Let's proceed. Due to her description, one of my first thoughts was that of an albino snake, yet, no snake was a match. Of course, she was insistent on the cobra morphology, which to me seemed dubious as there are none in the country or even in the larger region (we'll get back to this). I have also shown her many of the local species - that specific region of the country is a *hotspot* of snakes, having both serpents and vipers. On a mythological and folkloric note, Portugal's region was known by the Greeks as the land of Snakes, and has always had a huge folkloric motif relating to snakes and in fact as you've seen in my other map of Portuguese cryptids, cryptid snakes are common in Portugal historically. This is simply the most recent and distinct of the sightings/cryptids.With no proper snake match, I've showed her worms, skinks, legless lizards, and so on. Nothing matched. I showed her a false water cobra which has a sort of light rose colouring and she said it was close but not really. Nothing matched. Of course I wasnt expecting to find an exact match but if something was close it would be possible it was an escaped or albino escapee of some collectopet owner. I cant explain how insistent she has always been on the transparent skin point. I've showed her some animals that do have transparent skin like these here, particularly the frog and the skate. Of course this could've been the mind filling in blanks. I finally showed her after exhausting all alternative an albino cobra. This was my guess from the start but considering both the odds of an albino snake AND a cobra being in that place, I wanted to save it for last. That was the closest of all. She said it was *very* similar but still not quite. Again, the skin wasn't see-through enough. I'd like to add to this that there are both albino and leucistic snakes, and I'm pretty sure if real the cryptid was not leucestic, as that is a pasty white thats quite visible and opaque. Albino is closer to transparent.
With that done, there wasnt much else for me to do. Well, there was. Theorising.
This thread is long enough and I don't wanna give out all the details - specially as this will be the first cryptid I will *personally* search for in the terrain in 2024, and hopefully with some good news - thus I will simply put out forth a few solutions;
-the kids had a collective illusion - not impossible of course. But I personally don't think so, when you take everything into account-it was an escaped albino cobra - I think this is *very* likely. Over time the memory could have made it more transparent than it really was. Although the odds of all that happening seem very small it does make sense that an exotic pet owner would keep an albino cobra specifically, due to both their beauty and rarity. Only issue is that of course, it doesn't match 100% (Which could be explained by memory) and that afaik and seen there are no reports of escaped snakes, let alone cobras (granted, hard to find such from the 90s) and that pet trade like that specially then wasn't exactly common or easy.-other theories - there are many other possible theories of course which I will not talk about, like some specific mutation other than albinism, a damaged/sick snake from the region, a snake like animal under certain optical conjectures, etc...- a new and unique species - now, this is why you're here. I guess. Anyway this is the part where I'm gonna end the thread on; because I wanna discuss quickly why this isn't entirely impossible.
There is a phenomenon in which species adapting to a cave system as their entire habitat will have drastic changes. And thats called troglomorphism, ("cave shape"). You see this in some salamanders for example. Check the wiki article. So the see through skin could actually be a cave adaptation over thousands of years. The cave acting as a biogeographic island. The hood like a cobra could be an optical illusion, an actual hood that convergently evolved or a false hood, like the false water cobra has. Or it could be something else entirely for the cave system - we know one part of troglomorphism is potentially gaining extra appendages for sensory. Usually antennae tho. Thing is troglomorphism isnt very well understood yet.
Plus, the area is as I said above known for its snakes. One of the most snake dense areas of the country and historically as well. Although there aren't a lot of cave systems that we know of there, due to the geological and geophysical traits of the earth there, there *is* one specific area under the general area of the city and the upper Cavado that could have a decent enough cave system underneath. The Cavado itself can be a good way to move for snakes as some are seen at times in the water of the river. Furthermore, in the course of my research into portuguese cryptids in general, I've come across a few different researchers in the life sciences. One of them, an entomologist referred (relating to another topic tho) how the underground of Portugal is extremely rich and almost like "a tropical jungle" in terms of biodiversity and opportunities. Of course, he meant it more specifically concerning insects, but it does make me wonder as we do have quite a few interesting caves here, with unique systems and not enough money/manpower for research to be done on them.
So, I dont want you to believe in this cryptid, which I've named the Portuguese Ghost Cobra. I just wanted to share the testimony, specially as some people were interested on it; what i've learned and a few of my pet theories, while making sure it is saved into posterity just in case. Also to announce that you will probably hear more from me on this matter in the future as I intend to go to the location myself and do a deep dive and search for extra clues, more sightings and who knows, evidence. So wait for that I guess.

Our Guide to the Best Places to Live in Portugal for Expats

Are you considering moving to Portugal and wondering where the best places to live are? Portugal is a diverse country with a lot to offer, whether you're looking for an urban lifestyle in a bustling city or prefer tranquil days by the sea.
Portugal is a popular destination for expats from around the world, especially from the US, the UK, and Northern Europe. With its beautiful beaches, charming cities, safe neighborhoods, and quaint beach towns, Portugal offers a high-quality life that is hard to resist for retirees and digital nomads alike.
Here are some of the best places to live in Portugal for expats:
  1. Lisbon: The capital city of Portugal is known for its rich history, vibrant nightlife, and stunning architecture. It's a bustling hub of activity with a mix of modern amenities and historic charm.
  2. Porto: The second-largest city in Portugal, Porto is a vibrant, modern metropolis with a rich history. Located on the prestigious Douro River, in the heart of the port wine-making region, Porto offers scenic views and a safe environment.
  3. Faro: The main city in the Algarve southern region, Faro is a hidden gem. It's a smaller city than Lisbon and Porto, but with most of the big city amenities that you'll need.
  4. Coimbra: A university city located in northern Portugal, Coimbra caters to a wide range of interests with a low cost of living and a slightly small rural town feel.

When considering a move to Portugal, it's also important to think about practical considerations such as housing, healthcare, and education. 2023.06.10 01:56 buffasno [REVIEW] Loewe Medium Puzzle from Anna / Jipin Factory

After lusting after a colorblock Puzzle for years, the 6/18 sales finally pushed me over the edge. This is my first high-tier bag purchased directly from a seller, and part of my aim with this review is to share a bit of my experience with those contemplating their first serious rep. Thank you all for your awesome contributions to this community — you got me to this point on my bag journey!

My Photos with modshot - I’m 5’11 / 180 cm tall, US size 8 (sorry about my dirty mirror)
Authentic
Quality - 9.25/10
This bag is a work of art! The construction is dead on — it slouches but holds its shape, the panels are perfectly spaced, the stitching is flawless outside and in. The hardware feels weighty and high quality. No fufu smell. Setting aside the rep of it all, this is a very well made bag and I think it’ll be a workhorse.
Accuracy - 9/10
Auth dimensions: 11"W x 7"H x 5”D, 15” handle, 46” crossbody strap Rep dimensions (measured along bottom edge): 11”W x 7.25”H x 5” depth, 14” handle, 45” crossbody strap
I have manhandled many Puzzle bags in boutiques, department stores, duty frees, and pretty much any time I see one I’m allowed to touch, and the biggest callout for me on this bag is the feel of the leather. Loewe leather is buttery soft and this bag is noticeably drier and stiffer than any auth I have handled. The crossbody strap is crimped where it was folded for shipping and has not been receptive to being reshaped because of how dry it is, but we’ll get there.
Otherwise, the attention to detail on the rep-relevant components of the bag is fantastic. The colors, logo placement, interior lining, and even the number of stitches on the interior tag are dead on. The zippers and strap are branded even in subtle places. I especially love the hardware on the cross-body strap.
Rep Satisfaction Rating - 9.5/10
At less than 10% of the current retail price for auth, I really can’t complain at all about the quality of rep here. It is visually stunning and feels high quality, even if different from the auth. The sticky zippers and kinks on the strap are the only things I’d change, and I think I likely will be able to with conditioning.
Seller Satisfaction Rating - 10/10
Anna is not the warmest nor fuzziest texter but was prompt and no-nonsense in her replies. She sent great PSPs before I’d even asked for them. As a first time buyer, I felt a lot less anxiety than I expected to with how quickly she moved through the process and how much she kept me in the loop.
Cost Performance Ratio - 9.5/10
For $189 USD, I’m very happy with this bag. I bought the medium size in hopes of using it as a personal item carry on after an ancient PU tote bag I got at Nordstrom Rack in high school bit it during my last trip, and I think it’ll be great for that purpose. It’s large enough to fit a water bottle, book, wallet, and travel documents while being small enough to carry as a day bag on vacation. For how much use I’ll get out of this bag, I feel like the cost was well justified. The only performance issue I can see myself getting annoyed with is the zipper, but hey, I wanted a bag that would keep my stuff secure in the airport. If I can’t get in, no one can!
The Wrap Up - 8/10
I don’t live near a Loewe boutique, but I would have no qualms wearing this bag around Nordstrom and perusing this season’s Puzzles. It helps that it’s a discontinued, but not fantasy, colorway; it feels like I can get away with a lot more since it’ll never be directly compared to the same model in store. The difference in leather texture from the auth would likely keep me from letting an SA handle it.
In all, my experience buying from Anna was very different, and in many ways better, than buying through an e-commerce site. This bag is leagues higher quality and more beautiful than the bags I’ve bought from AliExpress and I’m glad to have gone with a high-tier rep for such an intricate, architectural style. It was slightly nerve wracking to send my money into the abyss over PayPal with no guarantee of getting anything in return, but the process of contacting a seller and hashing out details was a lot easier and faster than I’d expected, and over all I found the process a lot more transparent than ordering through AE. Being able to actually track my order via FedEx was a game changer from holding my breath for EMS to (probably never) update, and it's nice to have all communication in one chat. I'm sure it won't be like this every time, but it's nice to know it can be.
Now that I’ve been through the process once, I feel a lot more confident about stepping into the rep big leagues. I am super pleased with this bag and will be impatiently awaiting the 11/11 sale.

2023.06.10 01:25 GradInviteAITA AITA For not inviting my parents or sister to my graduation because I didn’t want to deal with the disappointment?

My parents have always put my sister Cassie first. Cassie did need extra support, as she does have genuine issues with depression and anxiety. But they refused to compromise; It always came at my expense. The final straw was my high school graduation back in 2019. Cassie had a pageant at the same time. The plan was for both of our parents to attend the first half of Cassie’s pageant, our mother would stay at Cassie’s pageant, and our dad would leave to attend and record my graduation. Before Dad was about to leave, Cassie said she was having anxiety and needed them both there. He texted me to find my own ride home from graduation. I had been so hopefully that my parents would finally follow through with their promise to be there for me. In the honors sector class photo, I was the only student who didn’t have any family members come. I felt awful. My mother, Dad, and Cassie were already home when I got back. They had ordered dinner and were celebrating Cassie’s pageant, they didn’t even seem to remember or care about me and my graduation. My parents tried to act friendly and congratulate me but I ignored them. My mother tried hugging me but I pushed past her. I decided then that I just couldn’t depend on them not to disappoint me.
My graduation was three weeks ago. I didn’t even bother reaching out to my mother, Dad, or Cassie. I gave my ceremony tickets to two friends and donated the rest. My mother and Dad reached out to me, saying they just learned about my ceremony through social media (neither of them went to college, so they assumed that the college got out at the same time as the local high schools.) They asked why I hadn’t even asked them. I told them that they’ve proven that I can’t depend on them by always leaving me as a second thought to Cassie. I know she has issues and needs extra support, but they never even tried to compromise and I didn’t want to deal with the disappointment again. My parents told me that they and Cassie were “heartbroken” that their daughtesister would disregard them this way.
We do have other family members who my parents are much closer with after the pandemic. We were not really involved with each other before (which is why they weren’t at my graduation, and why we didn’t go to their kids’ graduations.) They know both sides of the story, but told me I was an asshole. They said how my parents felt so bad about my high school graduation, and that I was being selfish and denied my parents the chance to make it right and finally be able to put their guilt behind them. I switched my social media to private to avoid these comments, but now I’m worried that they’re right and that I have been selfish/not understanding of Cassie’s needs. AITA?
TLDR: My parents have constantly prioritized my depressed/anxious sister over me, to the point of not even attending my high school graduation. Others are calling me selfish because I denied my parents the chance to make things right by inviting them to my college graduation.

2023.06.10 01:15 SeptemberSky2017 Well… change of plans (another job update)

Well… change of plans (another job update)
So in my last update, I told you all that I had accepted a job offer and that unfortunately you all wouldn’t be hearing any more about the “J” saga. Well, I went to put in my notice to tell my boss I was quitting and she told me that it hadn’t been officially announced yet but all the MLTs at my hospital are about to get a $3/hr raise, which would put us as the top paying hospital for MLTs in my area. She asked if that changed anything and I told her I would think about it and get back with her.
The next day, the HR manager from my work called me and said my boss had reached out to her because I was thinking of taking another job and the HR manager offered me .50 more an hour on top of the $3/hr that she confirmed we’re getting. I decided to inform HR at the hospital I had applied for a job at that my work was offering me 3.50 more an hour to see if they’d be able to match it but they never did. I also talked to someone I work with who used to work at the hospital that I applied for a job at and she didn’t have good things to say about the people working there. She basically said they’re all a bunch of bullies/ high school mean girls and the supervisor there is the ringleader of it all. To be honest I was excited about getting a new job and was hopeful that the people there would be fine to work with but when the lab manager was giving me a tour of the lab that day at my interview, none of the techs really acknowledged me or seemed very welcoming so I did have some apprehension.
So I decided to stay where I am for now. I’m getting a significant raise and I also talked to my lab manager at work about me working at our other hospital which is located about 10 mins closer to my house. So Im probably going to be going there soon which means I won’t be working with J anymore. But for now, I can put up with her, at least I can for a 3.50/hr raise. I also talked to my lab manager about some of my concerns with J and I’ve concluded that I think I’ll just bypass my supervisor and go straight to my lab manager with any major issues from now on. She was very upset when I told her what J had been doing regarding letting nurses label unlabeled specimens and she sent out an email saying she wants us to put in incident reports anytime we receive an unlabeled specimen and she also said if she finds out anyone in the lab is letting nurses label unlabeled specimens, they will be written up and they are at risk of losing their job. She also said she brought this up at some kind of important meeting she had yesterday. So it sounds like she’s taking it quite seriously, as she should. She also called J into her office right after I had this conversation with her but I’m not sure what exactly was said. J didn’t seem upset afterward. I’m sure if she was confronted about it she probably denied it just as she told me she would.
But at least now my boss is aware and knows to have her eye on J because she obviously can’t be trusted. I’ve talked a lot on this sub about how J walks around the lab without shoes. Well, the above photo is my view everyday at work. Today in particular, when this photo was taken, I was sitting at the hematology desk while she walked around the lab doing whatever, meanwhile her shoes stayed by her chair.

2023.06.10 00:32 Maleficent-Mine3818 AITA survivor pregnant by a narc

I’m not lucky. I was abused s**xually, emotionally and physically as a kid and grew up thinking men using me was all I was worth. I had a major glow up in 2020, lost 100lbs, felt great.
Then one misfortunate encounter with men after another I became extremely depressed in May 2022. I met the father of my child a few months earlier at a photo shoot. Around July we started talking more and he said something that made me cry. For the first time I felt noticed and validated. My family always says I have to deal with everything on my own. When I had a s*icide attempt and became homeless none of my family offered to take me in.
I never had time to heal from the things that happened to me as a kid or the off handed remarks said to me. I sometimes find myself resentful at my niece because my mom and grandfather want to shield her from the crazy of her parents. When I need them they tell me “You’re grown you need to fix everything on your own.”
Anyways I wanted to break up with the father of my child, while he said things that touched my heart there were so many red flags. He does illicit activities, hangs out with shady people (many connected to the cartel), he forced me to be intimate. I didn’t know I was pregnant. I had an altercation with my brother, who sa me as a kid, I got so angry my mom asked me to leave. I was back with father of my child. He was short on cash, he told me if I didn’t want to be homeless I needed to help make rent. I ended up in jail with first charge I got in my life.
Stayed in jail for 3 weeks before I got bailed out, then my mom didn’t want me coming home for health safety. So I ended up with the father of my child, though I didn’t want to see him. Found out I was pregnant. Joined a nonprofit, had SNAP, have Medicaid, and was looking for a room.
Meanwhile my mom let me come back home, there was tension and resentment. She has cancer and I wanted to apologize and help as much as I can. My brother decided to take my niece and move out. My mom has just been upset because she wants protect my niece. I find myself jealous and upset about the situation. No one came to my aid even at my lowest I was told “Stop letting it happen.”
I turned down the room because I have a job and go to school for IT. Now I think I messed up…my mom and I had a huge fight. She told me she’d help me find lawyers to take something off my plate. What triggered the fight was she told me I needed to do it. I’m stressed, my job is threatening to fire me, I need to get certifications to get into IT, 5 months into a high risk pregnancy (doctor’s words not mine) and father of my child won’t give me space.
My suicidal thoughts and depression have been bad since the father of my child doesn’t see things from my perspective. He calls me a bitch, delusional, crazy. But when I think about what led me to jail- I take accountability that I allowed him to manipulate me. If I had not gotten arrested I would’ve been killed or trafficked. Too much details to go into but jail was mercy.
I found out I’m having a boy. Since the fight with my mom I’m really thinking of leaving going to a room at a home for pregnant women and putting the child up for adoption. My family doesn’t really care about me, why keep my son who will someday receive the exact same treatment? Lord knows I don’t want him having anything to do with his father’s side of the family with all the illicit activities. Lies are deep, I don’t know the father of my child- where he lives, his “side” businesses, connections. Etc etc.
I want my son to be loved, to be heard and surrounded by people who love him. My mom doesn’t have a job and is trying to finish cancer treatments. She’s against me putting the child up for adoption, saying boys of color are treated badly when adopted.
AITA?

2023.06.09 23:57 MyPersonalThought My husband confronted my rapist last night

I don’t even know why I’m posting but I have been going through a lot of feelings in the last less than 24 hours.
I am 32, but when I was 18 someone I thought was a friend raped me. I was living out of my car at the time by choice, couch surfing, and basically avoiding reality after getting out of a horrifically abusive relationship that started when I was still in high school. I was in the lowest point of my life, and for years I didn’t even realize I was raped twice because I thought it was what I deserved for putting myself in that company/situations to begin with. After alot of time (obviously) and therapy, cultivating a healthy relationship the past 8 years, I know now. I was raped by a monster of a human who took advantage of me when I was at the weakest I’ve ever been.
Anyways, my rapist is still in my area. I have never kept tabs on him or anything, I actually forgot he existed until a few months ago I saw in the regional news paper that he opened a ‘sushi restaurant’ in a gas station lol.
I told my husband when I saw it and I was like ugh, I just hate that horrible people like him just get to go on & exist and experience success when they are literally rapists. My husband was like yeah, I should pay him a visit. I said no there’s no point.
Last night, by total chance, my husband ended up at the gas station where his restaurant is. We live 20 mins away, but we were having dinner at his sisters. My husbands sister asked him to go pick up beer. When he came back, he was white as a sheet.
He told us what transpired. As soon as he walked in to the gas station, he saw the tiny sushi counter and put 2 & 2 together. He walked over and asked the guy working what his name was. He gave his first name, and then my husband said his last name. My rapist turned around and looked at my husband and said how do you know that?
My husband said do you know ___ ____? (Using my maiden name) Apparently he froze immediately, and then said ….yeah…
My husband said yeah you know the woman you raped?
And the rapist said hey, why don’t we go outside and talk about this.
My husband said no, we can talk about this here. You raped her.
He goes, that was 15 years ago. Let’s go outside and talk.
My husband said rape doesn’t go away after 15 years. I’m just letting you know you’re still relevant buddy. She’s still in therapy and you’re still a rapist.
Thank god he walked away and left it at that. But man was I floored when he got back to his sisters house and told me what went down.
I have been going through a lot of emotions. I’m glad I married someone that stands up for me and was able to call him out without compromising his integrity. But now my sister in law knows my rapist works at her neighborhood gas station and wants to make it a point to go in there and get him fired along with the help of other friends + family.
Just seeking thoughts because on one hand I want this fucker to burn to the ground but on the other hand I want to just forget he existed again.

Revolutionizing the Potash Industry for Sustainable Agriculture: Sage Potash (SGPTF SAGE.v)

Dedicated to the responsible extraction and production of high-quality potash, a vital nutrient for agricultural productivity, Sage Potash (SGPTF SAGE.v) is on track to deliver the US its own domestic supply of potash with inferred 279.5 million ton potash resource.

https://preview.redd.it/8d5yr8ro825b1.png?width=2444&format=png&auto=webp&s=320cb2572a19c7f37b94f1c8397336ea20d53dc4
This presents a significant market opportunity, considering the critical need for the US to establish a domestic supply of potash to ensure food security as the US currently relies on imports from Canada for 94% of its potash requirements. By developing a domestic potash source, Sage Potash aims to enhance the nation's self-sufficiency and reduce dependence on external sources.
With only a USD$13M market cap, SAGE's Plains Project has the potential to be a Tier 1 deposit as it stands out as the largest potash deposit in the US that is close to pilot production with a resource value exceeding $18 billion at the current pricing of $645/ton.

Covering an expansive area of over 88,000 acres of mineral leases and permit applications, SAGE's Plains Project is situated in Utah's Paradox Basin, renowned for its abundant and underdeveloped world-class potash resources.
Anticipated in the second half of 2023, the projects PEA holds great promise, followed by pilot production which is expected to commence within 1-2 years. Initially, the project is expected to produce 50,000 tonnes per year with plans to scale up to 150,000 tonnes over a span of 20 years.

2023.06.09 23:18 NeitherSea3870 People these days don’t know how to have fun.

Don’t get me wrong, with time and age and technology and social media being more and more relevant, it is expected for most of our lives to be based on them. But while doing so, we are sorta loosing the art of living in the moment. I graduated high school a few months back, and if anyone had to ask how my senior year went I’d have to go through my instagram to bring out some photos of it. But the truth is I don’t remember anything from those moments apart from those photos being taken. The school I went to was pretty fancy, and the students would sometimes only plan to go for picturesque places as hangouts for the cool photos on instagram. Now I love pictures because of course they help you preserve precious moments but the pictures I’ve taken don’t rly have much melters to them. My best friend went to a different school, and a more public school sorta school and when recently meeting up with her she told me of all her memorable and fun moments she had as a senior, and noted how she barely had any pictures because of how caught up she was in the moment, barely 2 or 3 from each hangout with her friends. Being with people in the moment helps connect you to them more deeply, after we graduated most of my friend group became hard to contact, even for a call and I didn’t even feel like connecting with them again because we don’t see each other in school anymore. This should not be the case, it is important to take pictures ofc but they should never be taken with the intent of purely posting on sns, it should be to hold the memory of the moment. Please don’t make the same mistake as me and search for ways to make memories than posts, or have a healthy balance :) +BTW I know this isn’t unpopular but it needs to be put out there more.
